His manager Daniel Epp announced it just before the start of this Austrian Grand Prix: the future of Tom Luthi was going to be decided in Austria and would be completed before the end of the meeting at the Red Bull Ring. Deadline met! The Swiss will be the next Dynavolt Intact driver alongside Marcel schrotter. It will be noted that this team, contrary to the general trend, relies on experience rather than youth...

Its current driver, unfortunately injured and withdrawn from this eleventh round of the year, Xavier Virginie will be at Marc VDS next year and at Italtrans, we are moving Pasini 33 years old to bring in the next generation bastianini. But at Dynavolt Intact, we are getting an experienced Lüthi. Which is perhaps not so stupid when we remember that from 2019, new motorcycles are arriving with a Triumph engine and a new electronic control unit…

After 8 years in Moto2, Tom Luthi made the jump to the MotoGP category within his Marc VDS team.

Starting on the handlebars of a Honda, the Swiss rookie did not have an easy task but did not deserve it, in particular by finishing 3 times on the verge of points, in Qatar, in France and in the Czech Republic.

But the adventures linked to the separation between Marc van der Straten and Michael Bartholemy got the better of the future of the Belgian team in the premier category, and it was without handlebars in MotoGP that the Swiss was forced to consider a return to the intermediate category.

This will be done next season within the Dynavolt Intact GP team, at a time when the intermediate category will experience new growth with the arrival of triumph engines and much more sophisticated electronics than until now.

Tom Luthi : " MotoGP is still a dream come true for me, but circumstances have not made it easy for me in recent months. Now I am very happy that such a big door has opened for years to come. Dynavolt Intact GP is a strong, safe and well-organized team, in which high-level performances are possible. I'm looking forward to this new chapter and, with the support of my partners, fans and family, I can't wait to give it my all again next year in Moto2. My dream continues and now I focus again on the second half of the MotoGP season ».

Jürgen Lingg, team manager: “ I think it's great that Tom is coming to our house. His experience in MotoGP will certainly help him next year when a new chapter in Moto2 opens with Triumph engines and Marelli electronics. Furthermore, his many past victories show that he is a very good Moto2 rider. This is an optimal combination. It brings everything you need for this new category. We look forward to this joint future and, of course, we will strive to provide it with the best possible package ».
