Among the French drivers entered in a fortieth edition of the Suzuka 8 Hours which took place last weekend, there was a Sylvain Guintoli which continues a colorful season. A Suzuki rider in the British Superbike championship, he had the opportunity to return to MotoGP for three Grands Prix in place of Alex Rins before embarking on this endurance race which is important for the Japanese manufacturers. Yoshimura rider of the latest version of the GSX-R, the Frenchman was not unworthy, even to the point of being contaminated by the virus of the Japanese classic!

In the company of Josh Brookes and Takuya Tsuda, the tricolor showed that he was among those who could be considered for victory. Unfortunately, a fall during qualifying practices called into question legitimate ambitions which were emerging again at the start of the race before Tsuda does not fall in turn while clinging to another pilot.

All that remained for the crew of the Suzuki struck from number 12 was to let go for glory and panache, which they accomplished perfectly by moving up from last to seventh position. The Yoshimura GSX-R finished four laps behind the triumphant Yamaha for the third time in a row, despite all the setbacks.

« The qualifying format is interesting here, but unfortunately I took too much risk. Then, the accident at the start of the race immediately cost us five laps Takuya, Josh and I then attacked hard. We are nevertheless disappointed even if we can draw some strong moments from this ordeal. The new GSX-R handles very well. But these are things that can happen in competition ».

« It was my first time at Suzuka and it was a fantastic experience. The osmosis with Yoshimura was excellent and the adventure was beautiful. I hope I can relive it, but until victory this time! »
