As here, a gray sky and even a light drizzle awaited the Suzuka 8 Hours competitors for a 2-hour free practice session on the morning of Friday July 28, 2017.
The departure was even postponed for a quarter of an hour, in the hope that the conditions would improve.
No effort was wasted, and during the first hour, the competitors had to choose between staying in the pits or driving on a drying track allowing only slick tires to be used.
Things nevertheless improved during the second hour and, although they were not able to achieve very interesting times, the drivers were nevertheless able to establish the following hierarchy. Note however, in these difficult conditions, the beautiful place of GMT 94 with Niccolo Canepa…
The day continues with 2 qualifying sessions of 20 minutes for each driver, and it will end with 1h30 of night testing.
