Thursday July 28: 6:30 a.m. – 9:40 a.m. – Preliminary tests
FP1: The big weekend of 8 Hours of Suzuka began on this beautiful morning with the preliminary tests during which the Yamaha Factory #21 de Katsuyuki Nakasuga/Pol Espargaro/Alex Lowes quickly set a first milestone and took provisional command of FP1, for a tenth, ahead of the Honda #634 Musashi RT Harc-Pro.
However, let's not attach too much importance to these tests, the times of which are probably more than 2 seconds behind those of the qualification...
This first session was interrupted prematurely by the fall of Ratthapong Wilairot who lost control of his #104 Toho Racing Honda. He left for the medical center, on a stretcher but conscious, to detect possible fractures or trauma.
FP2: Despite a higher temperature at 30°, asignificant improvement in Yamaha Factory taken by Espargaro Pol compared to the FP1 which, as a result, digs the hole this time on the
Suzuki Yoshimura #12.
Slight drop in Lucas Mahias for the
GMT94 which takes the lead of the European teams, in 11th position.
Overall, the Yamaha Factory Racing (2'08'194 2) is in the lead ahead of the Honda MUSASHI RT HARC-PRO (2'08'829) and the Yoshimura Suzuki (2'08'933)
