Franco Morbidelli and Alex Marquez validated their entry for the Spielberg circuit after two days of testing on the track which will host the Austrian Grand Prix next month.

The Spielberg race will kick off the second half of the 2016 season in a few weeks, and both Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS drivers are ready to return after completing 300 laps between them in these two days of testing.

For Morbidelli as for Marquez, the number one objective of these tests was to familiarize themselves with a 4,318 km track which returned this season to the MotoGP championship calendar after a long absence. The two drivers from Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS also took the opportunity to work on fine-tuning their Kalex for a track that features seven right turns and three left turns, as well as numerous elevation changes.

Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS will return to Austria next month for the start of the second half of the season.

Franco Morbidelli: 185 laps – 1'30.1
“This test was positive because we were able to try many things on the bike and most of them allowed us to progress. I am happy. The Spielberg circuit is very beautiful and very fun to ride. I can't wait to see him again next month to kick off the second half of the championship. »

Alex Marquez: 186 laps – 1'30.3
“I'm happy to have been at Spielberg and I can say after these two days that I really like the track. It's an interesting circuit. We still need to improve our times for the race weekend but I am confident we will achieve it. Now is the time to relax and recharge the batteries before returning to Austria to attack the second part of the season. Hopefully it will be with a good result. »

Naoya Kaneko: Chief Engineer Alex Marquez
“We were a little worried before this test because the weather forecast was not promising, but we were ultimately able to work well until three in the afternoon on both days. This test was therefore productive. We were able to complete our program and we now have a good base of settings for the circuit. We also have a clear view of what we need to improve when we return next month for the race. »
