This is not a surprise, since we informed you of this a few weeks agoMore Dominique Aegerter will officially join Jeremy Alcoba (Kawasaki WorldSSP Team) to form a Kawasaki duo that will attack the FIM Supersport World Championship 2026, each rider will be competing on the Ninja ZX-6R 636, a machine capable of aiming for the podium.
Born in Rohrbach, Switzerland in 1990, the name ofagitated Dominique is already a legend in the Supersport paddock, having been a two-time World Champion in this category before embarking on a three-year Superbike career with the GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team. In total, Dominique has achieved 27 WorldSSP race victories out of 44 starts, securing the title in both the 2021 and 2022 seasons, despite some controversy.
Having trained in 125cc Grand Prix and Moto2 for about fifteen years (a victory in the intermediate GP category, at the Sachsenring in 2014), his versatility is such that he was also crowned MotoE champion in 2022 within the MotoGP paddock, and has scored two podiums during his recent seasons in WorldSBK, in addition to his 2nd place at the famous 8 Hours of Suzuka in 2015.
Having committed himself full-time to racing production-derived motorcycles during the 2021 season, Dominique Aegerter has been a sensation in WorldSSP from the start. He now approaches the 2026 WorldSSP 'New Generation' championship with even more experience than in his two title-winning years. He will be equipped with a Ninja ZX-6R 636 which has already achieved two podium finishes in its first year of WorldSSP competition, in the skilled hands of the 'rookie' Jeremy Alcoba, ultimately finishing 8th in the championship
The arrival of Aegerter alongside Alcoba not only doubles the size of the Kawasaki Supersport team Manuel Puccetti for 2026, but also constitutes a classic 'hybrid' lineup composed of a talented young competitor who has already proven himself, and a proven champion who is embarking on a new ambitious adventure on a playing field he knows well.
Dominique Aegerter: “I’m really happy to be part of the Kawasaki WorldSSP team. When I met Manuel Puccetti and Steve Guttridge, I immediately knew it was the right choice because they share my ambition to bring Kawasaki back to the top. The recent results of the ZX-6R 636 demonstrate the potential of this bike. I’m happy to be returning to WorldSSP, a category in which I’ve had good results in the past, with two world titles and numerous victories. I know that Manuel Puccetti’s team also knows how to win races and titles. I can’t wait to get on my new bike, meet my new technical team, and wear the green! My thanks go, of course, to Kawasaki, but also to my brother, who took care of all the paperwork and contracts, and to all our sponsors who made this possible.”
Manuel Puccetti, Kawasaki WorldSSP Team Principal: “We are proud and honored to welcome Aegerter to our team, a three-time World Champion who is a sure bet in WorldSSP. We are certain we can fight for the World Title with him because Dominique is a giant in the category. We will do our best to give him everything he needs to express his full potential and give his all for the title. We will be on track for our first tests with him at the end of November in Jerez.”
Steve Guttridge, Kawasaki Europe Race Planning Manager: “Welcoming Dominique Aegerter to our official Kawasaki WorldSSP team for the 2026 season sends an excellent signal regarding Kawasaki’s commitment to racing at the highest level. 'Domi' is a talented competitor and a proven champion in the WorldSBK paddock’s intermediate class. We had decided to enter our new Ninja ZX-6R 636 this season with some caution, given the current Balance of Performance regulations. We did this to assess, due to the wide variety of engine sizes and configurations among our competitors, what we needed to be able to fight against them in races. It wasn’t easy, but with Jeremy Alcoba doing an excellent job alongside his technical team as our sole rider, we can now build on everything we’ve learned. We’ll be aiming for plenty of green podiums again next season, with a formidable two-rider lineup returning to the grid.”
