YART-Yamaha distinguished itself in the final qualifying session of the 24 Hours Motorcycles 2025 EWC. This thrilling morning was notably marked by two new lap records and a close duel between the Yamaha #7 and the Suzuki #1.
The cool temperatures combined with the dry track promised a great spectacle, and it was. From the start, Greg Black (Yoshimura SERT Motul) briefly became the fastest rider in the history of the 24 Heures Motos, before Marvin Fritz (YART-Yamaha) does not recover this title thanks to a brilliant 1'34''489. Finally, the average of the two best times over the two sessions allows Yamaha to take pole position, but the gaps remain very tight. The #6 Honda of Tati Team AVA6 Racing takes third place on the starting grid thanks to its exemplary consistency.
Like yesterday, the French riders were the first to set off. Among them was Karel Hanika, on the #1 Yamaha YZF-R7, who set the fastest time in the first qualifying session. The Czech rider clocked a time of 1:36 on his first attempt, which put him at the top of the provisional standings. That was about two seconds slower than yesterday. Hanika then improved, but Gregg Black, on the #977 Suzuki, wasn't done yet. On fire, he continued to push until the final moments. This effort allowed him to achieve a new track record at the 24 Heures Motos in 1'34''551! In this group, no one can approach within a second.
His teammates must now confirm. The BMW M 1000 RR #37 BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team and ERC Endurance #6, wide awake, are determined to prevent the Suzuki #1 from triumphing. A red flag, shown due to the breakdown of the Honda #55 National Motos Honda FMA, suspends hostilities. This considerably disrupts tire strategies, as the tires quickly cool down. But the best are not to be distracted: Marvin Fritz, red armband on the Yamaha #7, takes the best mark in 1'34''489 ! He took advantage of Étienne Masson's slipstream, on the #1 Suzuki, to achieve this performance. Suzuki is still hot on Yamaha's heels, even though everything remains to be done to claim this pole position. Marvin Fritz remains reserved about his achievement: « It wasn't a perfect ride"It's always nice to have the lap record, but the most important thing is tomorrow's race.".
The Yamaha #99 Elf Marc VDS Racing Team / KM99 also shines in the red group, thanks to Jérémy Guarnoni. The bike prepared in Belgium has been fast since the start of the weekend, but watch out for mistakes: Randy de Puniet went through the gravel trap at the Dunlop curve a little earlier, fortunately without falling. Cocoro Atsumi, on the #1 Suzuki, cannot match the times of his rival Jason O'Halloran (YART-Yamaha). YART-Yamaha can therefore celebrate its pole position, as the times of the fourth riders do not count in the Formula EWC category. As yesterday, the fastest reservist is none other than Alessandro Delbianco (Yamaha #99), well ahead of Robin Mulhauser (Yamaha #7).
The first of the four salvos was again marked by the lightning speed of the BMW M 1000 RR #713 HERT by Moto-Jungle. Driven by four Hungarians, She is one of the most prominent contenders for victory in SuperstockThe #25 Team Étoile BMW significantly improved its time from yesterday, giving it a chance to take pole in Superstock. The second session confirmed the results of the first, with one exception: the #27 TRT AZ Moto Honda was sandwiched between the two BMWs; advantage to the #25 Team Étoile.
Subsequently, the BMW #713 further improved its time and moved back to the top of the provisional timesheet. Meanwhile, Eemeli Lahti (Honda #27) suffered a big crash at the Museum bend, which penalizes the team in the race for pole. Everything therefore came down to the final wave, which began in the worst possible way for Team 18 Pompiers Igol CMS Motostore. Alessandro Santo Dominges, riding the #18 Yamaha, lost control of his bike at the exit of Chemin aux Bœufs. This is the third major fall in less than three weeks for the team., who will also have to do without Enzo De La Vega for the race. Everything remains to be done in the last session, because in Superstock, the times of the drivers with green armbands are counted. Diego Poncet (Honda #41 Dafy-Rac41-Honda) is very fast, but falls in turn in the Chapelle corner. He nevertheless finishes first in the green armbands. Finally, The #713 BMW maintains its advantage and will start from pole position in Superstock.
The Production category is still dominated by the Kawasaki ZX-10R #42 Green Team 42 Lycée Sainte-Claire.
