Bezzecchi

What a fantastic Grand Prix for Marco Bezzecchi at Misano. Sure, he couldn't beat Marc Marquez on Sunday, but then again, it would have been almost impossible to overcome a man on a mission, ready to take revenge on a hostile crowd. Marco didn't let himself down, and he showed, once again if proof were needed, that he is one of the most resilient riders on the grid.

Is Bezzecchi the only one who can do this?

Of course, I know Alex Marquez beat Marc a little over a week ago in Barcelona., but I really feel that in terms of pace, Bezzecchi is the closest man to the number 93. On many occasions, we saw the eight-time world champion overtake his little brother, without the latter being able to respond. Bezzecchi, as in Austria, did not give up, and still had the merit of maintaining this pressure until the end. It was also visible, to a lesser extent, in Germany, before his crash, of course. I absolutely do not want to disrespect Alex, but in my eyes, Marco represents more of a threat to Marquez than the Gresini driver, who is a little too soft when he is behind his brother.

His progress has been meteoric, and in less than six months and with a machine he wasn't familiar with, he has transformed himself into a qualifying monster, something he sometimes lacked. He proved it again with a pole position at home, his second this season. One more, and he will equal his three achievements from his wonderful 2023. The Italian has managed to perform a complete reset to forget his very poor 2024 season, and start again on the right foot as an Aprilia factory driver. Mentally, it's strongHe could easily finish the year with the best campaign ever carried out by a driver from the Noale firm in the premier class, so impactful is he.

A pilot apart

This weekend we also attended the "Bezzecchi show"His celebration after the Sprint was just excellent, and carried over the idea from the movie. Three men and one leg, where three men must cross Italy from north to south carrying a wooden leg, the work of an artist named Garpez (GarBez, for the pun). Bezzecchi is undoubtedly one of the most charismatic drivers in the paddock., and that's why I love him: he says what he thinks, always imposes himself extravagantly and celebrates – an important element that gets lost. Marco has a special aura, which few drivers, ultimately, possess.

This is a major contrast to the other elements of the VR46 Academy, which is paradoxical, after all. Where Valentino Rossi was the king of funny provocation in the late 1990s and early 2000s, all of his students are discreet, efficient, and ultimately uncharismatic pilots… except for one. I'm thinking of Pecco Bagnaia, for example, who never won over the crowds, but also to Franco Morbidelli or to Luca Marini. None of them really stand out because of their personality, and in the middle of all this, we have Marco Bezzecchi, who stands out completely from all the rest of his colleagues.

That said, he shares many qualities with his teammates. Marco is someone who always overtakes properly, and who respects his opponents ; this is the subject of the next point.

Exemplary behavior

Based on my description, you might think he looks like a Valentino Rossi remake. This isn't really the case, and it's not about talent, as you've probably guessed. Unlike "The Doctor," Bezzecchi is having fun, but without disrespecting his opponents. Mind you, I'm not saying that being arrogant is a bad thing, because I miss the big rivalries. Simply, at Misano, Bezzecchi calmed the situation in his own way by saying that everyone had to be respected; he also warmly congratulated Marc Marquez. while it would have been easy for him to imitate his mentor Valentino Rossi, who, among other things, smiled at the time of the Spaniard's fall during the Sprint.

Bezzecchi, a Future superstar?

Let's get to the title of the article. I sincerely believe that Marco Bezzecchi has what it takes to become a big star of the MotoGP. Our sport is currently in dire need of big names. Pecco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin dominated the 2023 and 2024 seasons, but their charisma didn't resonate with many. The same could be said for the transparent Brad Binder. In my opinion, there are only two stars, currently, in MotoGP: Marc Marquez et fabio quartararo, whose aura goes beyond our sport. Some might think that Quartararo is not one of them, because he is not really known to the general public, and I am willing to hear that argument. However, it must be recognized that he has a significant impact on motorsports in general, as evidenced by his connections with Lewis Hamilton and other celebrities.

Bezzecchi, with his can't-care-less airs and his talent, could join this small group. Others are not far behind, notably Pedro Acosta who is made of the same woodStar status goes hand in hand with good results, because to be known, you have to spend a lot of time at the top, have a certain consistency. Trusting the top places allows you to often confront the other most prominent drivers, which can give rise to a rivalry, the best way to get noticed by people not interested in the sport. This is a bit of a problem for Bastianini, who has the character to move into this category, but neither the results nor the habit of being in the best positions.

In your opinion, does Marco Bezzecchi have what it takes to be a future star of the MotoGP championship? Tell me in the comments!
