Marc Marquez domination

Marc Marquez has won again in Hungary, the domination continues. Since I don't want to repeat myself, I wanted to offer you something other than a simple analysis, which would have been, quite honestly, similar to the one that appeared after the Austrian Grand PrixSo, I suggest we take a different look at his season. What do the numbers say?

I've compiled some mind-blowing statistics for its 2025 fiscal year. A tip: wet the back of your neck.

71,4%

Marc Marquez, triumphing at Balaton Park on Sunday, won a Grand Prix for the 10th time. That's a winning percentage of 71,4% over 14 races, which is just impressive. In terms of wins in a season, only a few riders have done better in history: eight, to be precise. His percentage is so far higher than what he achieved in his 2019 campaign, but also reflects a better season than Valentino Rossi's best three (no more than 68,75%.), the two Stoner titles (no more than 58,82%.), and approaches the 72,22% of victories achieved by himself in 2014.

Note that his current winning streak (7) currently places him in 9th place for the longest streaks in history. His record of ten consecutive successes, acquired in 2014, is in his sights.

82,1%

This is the percentage of races won including Sprints. It's hard to believe, but Marc Marquez is even stronger on Saturdays than on Sundays., with 23 races won out of 28, regardless of the format.

92,8%

Here's his win rate in Sprints only. It's simple: only one escaped him, at Silverstone, and again, he was second. While they were introduced at the start of the 2023 season and he did not have the material to play for victory at the time, Marc Marquez could already equal and then surpass the record of victories in this format, currently held by Jorge Martin (16). Marquez is at 14including 13 this year and 7 consecutive. It's only a matter of time.

12

That's the number of podiums he has this season, in 14 races. For your information, he currently holds the record for the number of podiums scored in a season, with 18 (2019). There are 8 races left to go; It's hard to imagine a scenario where he wouldn't beat his previous mark.

8

This season, Marc Marquez has already achieved 8 pole positions. Here too, he currently holds the record for the number of poles achieved in a season; 13, set in 2014. With 8 more rounds, he could easily go for it even if it is the exercise in which he is the most fragile this year.

71

This is the number of fastest laps in a race that Marc Marquez currently has in MotoGPHe has already done 8 this year, and the absolute record, held by Valentino Rossi, is 76. Here again, it could push the limits of what is possible as early as 2025.

175

Marc Marquez currently has a 175-point lead over second-placed brother Alex.In 2019, he was 151 points ahead of Andrea Dovizioso at the end of the year, which was a record… and one that is about to be broken. That said, it's worth noting that the totals are now inflated due to the Sprints.

22

The number of different tracks on which Marc Marquez has won, including Balaton Park. The record all time currently belongs to Valentino Rossi, with 23. Marquez could beat him this season if he were to win at Mandalika and Portimao, two tracks on which he never reached the top step of the podium.

3

Finally, my favorite statistic. When he didn't fall, Only three drivers have finished ahead of Marc Marquez in the 3 races held so far.. There is his brother Alex, who once beat him in a Sprint at Silverstone, Marco Bezzecchi, winner of the GP in England, and Johann zarco, twice. The first, at Le Mans, of course, and the second, in Great Britain, when he finished second in Sunday's race. As improbable as it was delicious.
