While the MotoGP and Moto3 titles have already been decided, the final two rounds of the Moto2 season are far from uninteresting! On the contrary, the battle between Manuel Gonzalez and Diogo Moreira for the world title has never been so intense. Heading into Portugal, the Brazilian leads the overall standings, nine points ahead of his closest rival: he therefore has his first opportunity to clinch the world crown. To do so, he must leave Portimao with a 26-point advantage over his opponent. Thirty-five points behind the leader, Barry Baltus should not be ruled out either. The Belgian could spring a surprise if his rivals underperform and remain in contention for the title in the final round of the championship in Valencia.

The Moto2 Portuguese GP's FP2 session took place under clear skies, but the track was still wet due to the morning's bad weather. As a result, the riders took risks. Only a few managed to set a time.
Alex Escrig thus secured the fastest time in FP2, with a lap of 1'58.105, more than 15 seconds slower than Aron Canet's best time set the previous day. Sergio Garcia and Ivan Ortola completed the top three.
The championship leaders, meanwhile, remained safely in their garages. They had no interest in taking risks in these conditions, especially with qualifying for the Portuguese Grand Prix taking place in just a few hours. Among the championship contenders, only Daniel Holgado completed a run at the end of the session, without finding much pace.
