Moto2 Valencia Qualifying

Moto2 takes place in Valencia for the final round of the 2025 season. The stakes are incredibly high, as this is the last category of the world championships yet to crown its champion. Two riders are still in contention for the title before the final race. Diogo Moreira is the clear favorite, with a 24-point lead over Manuel Gonzalez, who is racing on home soil. Mathematically, anything can still happen…

Qualification 1:

Q1 surprisingly featured many pole-position favorites, caught out by the changing conditions during Friday's practice session. Among them were David Alonso, Aron Canet, and even Diogo Moreira, the championship leader. However, the task was far from easy for these three, facing qualifying specialists like Filip Salac and Albert Arenas.

One of them was caught out before the checkered flag. While Albert Arenas set the fastest time in Q1, with a 1:32.177, Aron Canet and Diogo Moreiera completed the top three, ahead of Filip Salac, the last driver to qualify for Q2. David Alonso, however, failed to make it through, missing out by less than a tenth of a second.

Qualification 2:

After the initial attempts by each driver, Daniel Holgado secured provisional pole position with a lap time of 1:32.075. This was before things heated up, and the drivers battled it out in an exceptional Q2 finale. Diogo Moreira, Daniel Holgado, and Senna Agius relentlessly attacked, taking turns at the top of the timesheets.

As the checkered flag fell, Daniel Holgado secured the final pole position of the year, shattering the track record. The Team Aspar driver clocked a time of 1:31.715. Izan Guevara caused a surprise at the very end of the session, clinching second place in Q2, while Senna Agius will complete the front row of the starting grid.

Manuel Gonzalez ultimately qualified 5th on the Moto2 grid, thanks to a late improvement. Diogo Moreira, on the other hand, failed to improve on his final run and dropped drastically down the order at the end of the session. He will start from 9th on the grid.
