It's back to another Moto3 weekend in Italy, and it starts right away with FP1. Two weeks ago, in Aragon, David Munoz (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) won for the first time this season ahead of rookie Maximo Quiles (CFMoto Aspar Team), incidentally Marc Marquez's protégé. On the third step of the podium was Alvaro Carpe (Red Bull KTM Ajo), another rookie to watch. The latter's teammate, José Antonio Rueda, still leads the world championship despite finishing in eighth place at the Aragon Grand Prix. Who will stand out on the Tuscan asphalt? The answer will be on Sunday afternoon!

Even if you already know the outcome of this session, come relive it with us ! Before we begin, here is a table that summarizes the known facts:

Moto3™ Italy, Mugello

2024

2025

FP 1'55.818 David Alonso 1'55.924 José Antonio Rueda
P1 1'54.671 David Alonso
P2 1'53.926 David Alonso
Q1 1'55.667 Scott Ogden
Q2 1'54.194 David Alonso
Course Alonso, Veijer, Yamanaka (See here)
All time lap record 1'53.926 David Alonso 2024

The session begins under the bright Tuscan sun. Watch out, because the lap record could well fall.

Jose Antonio Rueda, the championship leader, is the first to set a significant time. Jacob Roulstone (Red Bull KTM Tech3) succeeds him, but for the moment, times are still very slow.

Roulstone is definitely above the others, but the reference time set by Alonso last year is still a long way off. Wheel returns to first place, thus confirming his status as favorite. If we exclude Aragon, he was ahead in all the previous rounds. The rookie Maximo Quiles, who everyone is watching in the paddock, is already second.

David Almansa (Honda Leopard Racing) is waking up, just like its competitors. Everyone is improving, but Wheel remains alone, in the lead, quite far ahead of his pursuers. The domination continues. Scott Ogden (KTM CIP Green Power) is second, ahead of the KTM Intact GP duo composed of David Munoz et Guido Pini. Ryusei Yamanaka (KTM MT Helmets MSi) completes the top 5.
