After a rather wet start, the series of official Moto3 and Moto2 tests continued on Tuesday in Portimão, with the final day of the entry category of the World Championship motorcycle, in conditions very similar to the previous day.

Once storm Marta had passed over the Algarve during the weekend, there was hope for a gradual improvement in the weather at the Portuguese Autodrome, but it was clear that it would still be necessary to ride in the wet for this last day of the first Moto3 2026 test.

Despite the persistent light rain accompanied by slightly less strong gusts of wind, they mustered their courage to complete a few laps, not being able to count on the following day….

After an hour, there were already a dozen of them, more than the day before, who had revved their Honda or KTM engines, and in the end, 19 out of 26 registered braved the bad weather hoping for better conditions in Jerez later in the week.

Many crashes marred this second day, proof that we didn't mess around on the track, and, at the end of this eight-hour session, the times were slightly improved compared to the day before.

The times and the laps

At the top of the table, Guido Pini made the turquoise of the Leopard Racing team shine, setting a time of 2'01.242 for his Grand Prix debut.
Vice-champion of the FIM JuniorGP 2024 championship despite an injury which prevented him from participating in the first rounds, the 18-year-old Italian made his official debut in the Moto3 World Championship in 2025, committed with the Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP team on a KTM.
Proving himself to be one of the most consistent rookies, he finished his first season in the world championship in 13th place in the overall standings, with 111 points scored, after having obtained a pole position (Czech Republic Grand Prix) and a podium (Indonesian Grand Prix).
This year, joining the Luxembourg team, he rides alongsideAdrian fernandez, Raul's younger brother in MotoGP.

The most assiduous person of the day was Nicholas Carraro (Rivacold Snipers Team), with 49 laps completed.
This other Italian is starting his second season in Moto3, still with the same team, and thus becomes the leader of the sun-colored team, along with the rookie Jesus Rios at his side.

"These were two days on a wet track, not very helpful for regaining feeling, but I'm really happy to see the team again and be with them once more. I'm looking forward to starting the next tests at Jerez, hoping to find some good days to regain real confidence with the bike." he summarized.

What comes next?

Now it's the Moto2 turn, who will in turn be able to enjoy the Portuguese circuit on Wednesday and Thursday.

The tests will then take place in Jerez, starting on Saturday for Moto3.

Clearly, so far, whether in Superbike or Grand Prix, the Iberian Peninsula hasn't been very welcoming…
