Oscar Haro has recalled an "extremely beautiful" gesture from Angel Nieto towards Marc Marquez's mother during the turmoil of the 2015 season.
By winning the Argentine Grand Prix last weekend, Marc Márquez equaled the number of victories ofAngel Nieto. Many tributes were paid to the Spanish legend throughout the week. Among those who spoke out was Oscar Haro, former sports director of the LCR team and close friend ofAngel Nieto.
Often questioned about him, he never fails to tell anecdotes that continue to bring to life the greatest Spanish driver in history, who passed away in 2017. During a interview conducted by Nico Abad, he returned to this symbolic milestone of 90 victories reached by Marc Márquez and on the emotion of his family, the mother of number #93 having also been a close friend ofAngel NietoOn this occasion, he wanted to reveal an anecdote that the latter told him, which dates back to 2015.
"At the time of all the turmoil, Ángel found her very moved, crying in a motorhome, and he took her to his motorhome. She explained to him why she was crying. I'm not telling this to get things all heated up because there's no need to, but simply because Ángel's gesture seems extremely beautiful to me. He was always concerned about the parents of all the pilots.", he explained.

"There was a character, a moron who said [to Márquez's mother]: 'You're going to end up like Simoncelli's parents, crying in the paddock with your dead son.' And that can't be said... From the father of a driver, no less! And then Ángel went to look for him between the trucks and said, 'Come here, I'll explain.' And he explained it to him."
"And that was the greatness of Ángel. Ángel always said, 'There's no rider who wants to knock another rider down, that doesn't exist. He can squeeze him but he'll never want to [knock him down]', he was kind of defending Valentino with what had happened. That was the greatness of Ángel, not just with all the riders on the grid, but also with all the fathers and mothers, because he had been a rider, a father, a manager, he had been everything you can be in MotoGP. So let's drink to those 90 victories and that big heart you had, Ángel!"
