Fabio Quartararo has been cleared to compete in the Italian Grand Prix despite suffering a partial shoulder dislocation during free practice. After crashing at Turn 4, the Yamaha rider immediately sought help from the marshals before being examined in the paddock by MotoGP's chief physician, Dr. Angel Charte. Marc Marquez, who watched the incident, shares his thoughts based on his own experience...
Despite the pain, Quarterly returned to the track and brilliantly secured a direct entry into Q2, setting the fifth fastest time of the session. After the tests, Yamaha preferred to send him to the hospital in Florence for further examinations. The verdict confirmed a left shoulder subluxation, but scans established that he could continue the race weekend.
The Frenchman then qualified in fourth position, just two tenths off the pole position set by Marc Marquez. An achievement for a pilot in physical pain.
Leader of the championship, Marc Marquez is familiar with this type of injury. He himself suffered from recurring shoulder dislocations between 2013 and 2019, and had to resort to surgery at the end of the 2018 season. In an interview with AS, the Spanish driver sent a message of caution to Quarterly :
« I don't know the exact condition of his shoulder.. In my case, if I put it back in place quickly, I could continue riding without immediate pain. But the problem is instability.. One, two, three, four dislocations… and At some point, you have to have an operation, because each time it comes out more and more easily. »
Doctor Angel Charter: “ Fabio Quartararo put his shoulder back in place himself, he's used to it »
El Diablo, who has not missed a single Grand Prix since his MotoGP debut in 2019, will therefore have to closely monitor the progress of this injury.
The doctor Angel Charter himself confirmed that Quarterly had acted calmly and coolly: " Fabio dislocated his left shoulder. It wasn't the first timeI didn't put his shoulder back in place; he did it on his own, as he was already used to doing it. Then we went to the hospital in Florence for an MRI. Fortunately, everything is stable. »
The bravery of fabio quartararo at Mugello is undeniable, but the advice of Marc Marquez emphasize the importance of carefully monitoring this injury to avoid future complications. The season of MotoGP is long and demanding, and the health of the pilots is paramount.
