Miguel Oliveira

Injured since the Argentine GP, Miguel Oliveira is seeing his shoulder injury recover quickly and hopes to get the green light from doctors to ride at Jerez next weekend.

Affected by a complex and rare shoulder injury, Miguel Oliveira has been forced to rest completely since the Argentine Grand Prix. As a reminder, he was hit by Fermín Aldeguer during the race and had a bad fall. While the first tests showed nothing alarming, a more in-depth check revealed a dislocation of the sternoclavicular joint with a torn ligament.

While the Portuguese driver thought it was a "simple" fracture that would have kept him away from the Grand Prix for only two or three weeks, the final sentence was much harsher, with an estimated two months of recovery. Unthinkable for a high-level athlete. After three weeks of complete immobilization, Olive tree was able to start gradually returning to training last week.

Present in the paddock in Qatar to cheer on his team, he was not yet able to announce a specific date for his return, although he made no secret of his desire to do everything he could to aim for the Spanish Grand Prix next weekend. He has since shared encouraging news on his social media, which suggests a very imminent return to the track. However, there is no question of rushing things and he is keen to listen to his body to avoid rushing into anything.

"My dislocated sternoclavicular ligament tear is healing very well. Every day brings improvements, and even small steps make a big difference.", he explained on his social networks. “Recovery requires patience, dedication, and, above all, respect for your body’s rhythm. But I remain strong, supported by excellent professionals, and surrounded by positive energy and lots of encouragement. A huge thank you to everyone who has messaged me, encouraged me, and followed all of this.”

Miguel Oliveira will undergo a check-up next week, which will determine whether his shoulder is healed enough to consider a return to Jerez a few days later.
