Miguel Oliveira is experiencing a sudden change in his career. After seven consecutive seasons in MotoGP, the Portuguese driver finds himself without a seat for 2026. Yamaha has decided: Jack Miller will remain at Pramac Racing, alongside Toprak Razgatlioglu, who will therefore push Oliveira towards the exit.
The axe fell, relentless. Despite having a contract in his pocket, Yamaha chose to activate the performance clause. With only 10 points scored against 52 for Miller, Olive tree did not stand up to comparison.
The brand in tune did not hesitate to invoke underperformance to break the agreement, an "open secret" which became reality during the Hungarian weekend.
More Olive tree hasn't said his last word. No question of going to Superbike, despite several offers. The Portuguese wants to stay in the paddock MotoGP, even through the back door: as a test driver, with wild-card participations and possible replacements for injured players.
Miguel Oliveira's options
It is Aprilia who is the most open. The former pilot KTM et Yamaha could join the testing program alongside Lorenzo SavadoriProblem: Savadori remains Noale's priority, as he wants to guarantee him appearances in the race.
So where and with whom? KTM, about to lose Pol Espargaro toward BMW in Superbike, has no intention of strengthening its test team. Olive tree, despite his past in the orange house, is not expected there. For his part, Honda would only activate in the event of complete withdrawal ofAleix Espargaró, too busy… with cycling.
At 30 years, Miguel Oliveira does not want to leave the scene through the back door. After a painful experience at Yamaha , he plays his last card to stay at the highest level, even as a joker.
