Raul Fernandez, Trackhouse Racing MotoGP rider, has had a rather complicated start to his career at the highest level. First moving up to the premier class with KTM Tech3, he had to find an alternative to stay in the big league after just a year. Moving to Aprilia's satellite team (then RNF), he continued with the new Trackhouse Racing entity. Mixed results followed one another for a long time, but recently things have been going a little better: he has just had, according to him, his best Grand Prix in the Czech Republic.
Fernandez spoke about his state of mind after this fifth place in Brno, which earned him entry into parc fermé as the best independent driver. “It’s very good, I’m very happy. With a good first half of the year, I have already collected more points than last year, halfway throughAnd we're getting there little by little. Of course, it's not easy; we want more, but above all, it's a time to assimilate, to understand. And above all, to do good work during these two weeks. Now we have to turn to qualifications » could we read in the columns of Motosan.

Even more surprisingly, he dwelled on the lull he experienced at the start of the season, when nothing was going his way. « After Jerez, I think I almost gave up.I couldn't take it anymore; I didn't understand anything anymore. I wanted to get it over with right away; I didn't want to continue in this routine. My chief engineer helped me a lot. We said to ourselves: we'll have dinner and get some fresh air, for the rest, we'll see tomorrow. », he added. It should be remembered that few pilots talk about their moments of mental difficulty, which makes it always surprising when it happens.
Fernandez, only 24 years old – he arrived in MotoGP very young – did not see himself continuing like this for much longer. « I had to find a solution, because at 24, I didn't want to go through a difficult period like the one I was going through. What we found out from there was that I had a basic setting on the bike but we were using a different bike every session because I wasn't feeling well. We spent a whole day trying to find a setting that would at least allow me to be relaxed and comfortable on the bike. I was lost, the team tooComing back so quickly after the injury certainly didn't help me." he concluded.
