While MotoGP's return to the track is already long overdue, the sport is giving us a taste of what the 2026 season has in store. The official calendar for the upcoming campaign has just been released: as expected, twenty-two Grands Prix will punctuate the year on five different continents. However, there are many changes to note.
The highlight of this calendar, and arguably the most anticipated, is the return of Brazil to the calendar. After a long absence, South American fans will rediscover the atmosphere of MotoGP on the Goiania circuit, symbolizing the renewed interest in this immense South American market. This event will replace the Argentine GP, taking its place on the calendar. Thus, from March 20 to 22, the grid regulars will contest the second round of the year there.
The year will begin at the end of February in Buriram, Thailand, and will conclude, as usual, in Spain, at the Ricardo Tormo circuit, with the Valencia Grand Prix. The 2026 calendar does not forget the traditional summer break, which will take place between July and August. A summer that will be light on races, since only the British Grand Prix will take place between Sunday, July 12, the end of hostilities in Germany, and Friday, August 28, the start of the Aragon GP.
To complete this program, the European tour of the calendar was completely reworked. While the Catalan and Aragonese GPs are returning to their usual places in May and late summer, the British GP is following suit, resuming its early August slot. While the first Hungarian GP at Balaton Park will take place this year in the second half of the season, it will host the discipline in mid-June in 2026, directly preceding the Czech GP, which has been moved forward by a month.
The final round of the calendar is identical to that of the 2025 season, with a series of four races in Asia, followed by the Portuguese GP, the final round before the finale. However, the Austrian GP will precede the Asian tour, taking the available slot between the San Marino and Japanese GPs.
