At the end of last season, while we were sitting quietly around a coffee in Cartagena, Johann zarco gave us a long interview in which he spoke about his dream of being able to continue his journey with Honda, at least until 2027, in order to try and benefit from a MotoGP that complies with the future regulations, thinking that Honda could then once again play at the very top.

When discussing this possibility, the Frenchman, whose current contract ends at the end of the year, had a smile on his face and stars in his eyes, even going so far as to use the word "hold-up" with a laugh to describe this hypothesis...

This hold-up, the double Moto2 world champion seems on the verge of realizing it, if we read between the lines of a very interesting statement from his manager, Guillaume Valladeau, on the airwaves of Canal +.

"For now, things are progressing well. We've already had some discussions in Qatar. For now, things are going in the right direction. Afterwards, What is important is to see over the next two years, especially, that is our number one objective. Of course to continue with Honda. Well, I think that the interest is on both sides, so that's great. And then afterwards, concerning knowing where we will be, that's a big question. I'm often asked this question at the moment, I want to say, today, we're already doing well with LCR, things are going very well, we have a great bike, we have the right parts, Johann is doing a great job. Afterwards, I want to say that it's a bit Honda's decision, it's a bit about knowing a little bit where HRC will want Johann to be. But there you go, I want to point out that the adventure has been extraordinary so far. Johann has been doing a great job since the start of the season, he's really committed, he's ready physically and mentally. After that, discussions always take a little time, but that's normal. Now we'll see how it goes at the end of the weekend. We might talk a little more during this weekend to move forward, but It will move forward quickly, I am quite confident. Afterwards, as I say, HRC, they really want to continue with Johann and that, for us, is what is most important. Afterwards, in terms of being with the factory team or staying at LCR, I want to say it is the HRC also which must make its choice. Now, we are also doing well at LCR and as Randy pointed out, I think we have already built something during these 2 years. And then there you go, it is important to continue in this dynamic. Now we know, When you change teams, it's always a little more complicated, we have to rebuild, we start again with new people. But there you go, we don't close the door. What is important for us is to continue with Honda. We have Lucio's trust too, that's very important. He was a very human person who also opened doors for us, we mustn't forget that.. So there you have it.”

Although it is not clearly stated, the number 1 objective of Johann zarco, to sign until 2027, seems to be shared by Honda, which would allow the Cannes native to realize his dream. As for which team, the balance seems to lean more towards LCR, which has both factory machines and a Latin atmosphere that perfectly suits our national champion...

“It will also be a decision when we have the proposal that comes our way. Because it’s true that for a driver, when you have good results, Currently Johann is the first Honda rider, so the logical next step would be to go to the HRC side., but still I want to say there is no real logic : From the moment we have a factory bike, we have the best parts, the best bike and we find ourselves in the conditions that we asked from HRC, for us, it's not very seriousBeing here is already extraordinary because we have managed to give back, I would say, vitality, results, to Honda too, and that is more important.

After spending more than a year being the best Honda rider, and let's not forget, winning the Suzuka 8 Hours, something very important in Honda's eyes, John Zarco therefore seems to be on the verge of securing his future with the Tokyo manufacturer, which was his avowed dream since last year...
