Albert Valera, the manager of George Martin but also his long-time friend, does not hide his optimism despite the recent turbulence between his pilot and ApriliaPresent together at the Aprilia All Stars in Misano, the event allowed us to reconnect with the sensations of racing... and with a smile.
« Jorge was very happy to be able to ride "Says Valera. " It was not planned At first, because he was still recovering from his injury. But already at Barcelona airport, he said to me: 'What if we found an Alpinestars suit and helmet?' He had this impatient, childish look in his eyes. I told him that wasn't reasonable. And yet, arriving at Misano, facing the circuit and the Aprilias lined up, he could not resist »
Result: a quick trip to a specialist store to find the right size equipment, twenty minutes later he was putting on the suit, ready to devour the laps of the track. He did about twenty laps and had a great time. ", welcomes Valera.
Albert Valera: “ this time spent in the hospital, alone with his girlfriend, makes you think »
But this joyful interlude contrasts with a chaotic start to the year: " It was very hard. After the first injury in Malaysia, he got injured again. Then in Qatar, it all happened again. It was like Murphy's Law. And that time spent in the hospital, alone with his girlfriend, made you think. »
As for the future, the uncertainty persists on GPone : " Aprilia issued a statement, and so did we. We had to explain the situation to everyone, to the media, to the fans. We discuss, we are in good faith. " But Valera wants above all to recall the essential: " There are still a lot of races left. And if we work well with Aprilia, we can still achieve great things. »
As for a victory this season? He believes in it hard as iron: " Every race is a lottery. But we saw what the RS-GP is capable of. Silverstone proved it. Marco won, I'm happy for him. But Jorge can do it tooWe just have to stay united and aim for the same goal. »
Valera see in Martin a champion capable of overcoming challenges. Misano has rekindled his passion, and discussions with Aprilia could lead to a compromise. Martin, if he returns to form, could shake up the end of the 2025 season and redefine his future for 2026.
