MotoGP has always been steeped in legendary rivalries. Now, a new generation is emerging, and two young Spaniards from the same region, Murcia, could well write the next chapter in this saga: Pedro Acosta and Fermin Aldeguer.
Peter Acosta took the paddock by storm. Moto3 champion in his first season in 2021, he followed this up with the Moto2 title in 2023 before moving into the premier class in 2024. A dazzling career, which earned him the nickname "El Tiburón".
Fermin Aldeguer, he followed a less classic but equally impressive path. Winner of the CEV Moto2 in 2021, he made a name for himself in MotoE then in Moto2 before landing a Gresini Ducati ride in 2025. Less publicized thanAcosta, but just as determined, he is already establishing himself as one of the faces of the future.
This season, the tension has risen a notch at the Red Bull Ring, where Aldeguer gained the upper hand Acosta finishing 2nd, leaving his compatriot in 4th place. A first strong signal: the rivalry is only just beginning.
Asked by AS about his relationship with Acosta, Aldeguer wanted to clarify: " Normal. Actually, there was never any problem between us. It's just a rivalryIt's a question of character.. » But the young pilot did not hide his vision of the duel: " I'm the talent. He's the worker. »
A little dig that says a lot about the rookie's confidence Ducati.

Aldeguer, Acosta, but not only: Murcia, land of champions
The region is not limited to Acosta et AldeguerIn Moto3, two other Murcians are making headlines: Maximo Quiles et Alvaro Carpe.
Aldeguer knows this: " Quiles and Carpe are having an exceptional season. Quiles has stood out more because he has competed in fewer races and achieved better results.. »
The figures prove him right: despite absences linked to the minimum age requirement, Quiles has already signed two victories and is 3rd in the championship with 164 points, against 146 for Carp, only 6th.
The ingredients are there: two precocious talents, from the same land, promised to shine at the highest level. Acosta embodies hard work and consistency, Aldeguer claims pure talent and audacity.
The question is simple: will we see a rivalry at the Rossi–Marquez Murcian version? Time will tell, but one thing is certain: the future of MotoGP is in their hands… and the paddock is already preparing to savor this explosive confrontation.
