Alex Marquez teammate

Alex Marquez is on fire at the start of the season MotoGP, but he's not the only one at Gresini: his teammate Fermin Aldeguer is currently the owner of unsuspected speed, which struck in Austin during the main race – before this resulted in a crash – but also and especially in Qatar. The young rookie, only 20 years old, finished fourth in the Sprint and fifth in the Grand Prix under the spotlights of Losail. It's not enough to worry Alex Marquez, but it's enough to make the rest of the grid tremble.

Aldeguer, signed by Ducati after his wild end to the 2023 Moto2 season, has been on fire in recent weeks. Alex Marquez was asked for his opinion on the new recruit. « It's important to have a second fast driver in the team. He's doing a really good job. But he continues to ride without paying attention to certain things, let's put it that way. When you come from Moto2, you ride without fear, without realizing that sometimes, the maneuvers are extremely dangerous » he affirmed in the columns of speedweek.

Alex is well placed to talk about this., because he too brilliantly succeeded in his transition to Moto2, completed by a world title in 2019. He suspects that Fermin will experience some less joyful times as he learns. « After it falls a few times, it will roll differently. That's how you become more careful. In Qatar, he didn't care about anything, not even his worn tires. He pushed to the limit, and he put a lot of pressure on me. It's a good thing for the team and for me to have such a quick reference." he continued.

In Austin, Fermin Aldeguer had already tasted disappointment. After a wild comeback, he fell all alone after entering the top five. Alex Marquez, second that day, was not surprised. "I told him it was normal, he was driving like in qualifying!" he concluded.
