Aldeguer Argentina

Fermín Aldeguer has been sanctioned by Race Direction for the collision he caused with Miguel Oliveira during the sprint race of the Argentine Grand Prix.

The sprint race was short-lived for Miguel Oliveira, who was hit by Fermín Aldeguer on the fourth lap. Then in 15th position, the Spanish rookie attempted a somewhat overoptimistic overtake on the Portuguese in turn 2 and lost the front, taking Oliveira down with him. If Aldeguer only slipped and was able to quickly restart in last position, despite initial doubts given the smoke his bike was spitting out, Oliveira fell much more heavily and was unable to get back on track.

Worse, a clavicle fracture was suspected after an initial visit to the circuit's medical center, forcing him to go to the nearest hospital to carry out additional tests which did not reveal a fracture, as communicated by the Pramac team: "It seems that nothing is broken, he is returning to the circuit". Otherwise, it would have been a real blow for Miguel Oliveira, who suffered a series of injuries last season, often being hit while running.

However, the incident was analyzed by the Race Direction, which decided to sanction Fermín Aldeguer. As this is the first time, the Gresini driver has been given a long lap to complete in tomorrow's main race and has apologized to the Portuguese: "I want to apologize to Miguel Oliveira, whom I hit when I fell. I never intended to take him with me."

The young Spaniard finished last but gained experience. "I didn't get the best start, I lost a few places and a small crash in Turn 2 didn't give me a chance to fight for the race. Despite that, I kept riding and gathering information. Tomorrow I'll have to do a long lap because of the crash I caused, but I'm happy with the pace I had."
