Jack Miller was the sole representative of the Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP team in Argentina after Miguel Oliveira withdrew. And while he had a good chance of scoring a top-10 finish, given the events of the race, the Australian finished a modest 14th in a race marked by a difficult start.
Starting from 13th on the grid, Miller lost several places early on due to a traction issue. This incident hampered some of his rivals, but he was the main casualty, as he was relegated to the back of the field.
After the race, Jack Miller did not know the exact reasons for the problem he encountered, although he admitted that it appeared to be a personal error.
“The start wasn't too bad, but I had a bit of wheelspin. Maybe I was a bit too aggressive on the clutch or the track was quite dirty., Miller explained, in doubt.
After this incident, he quickly recovered his initial position thanks to a good pace in the first laps, but then had to deal with tire degradation. A significant factor in this 25-lap race. "We went for the medium rear tire, and I'm not sure it was the right decision. It's always easier to say that after the race."
Although he tried to move up the order, Jack Miller was confronted with the limits of his M1 towards the end of the race. All the Yamahas had a rather tumultuous weekend. “With 11 laps to go, I felt like I was catching up with the other riders, but in the end our tire degradation was similar, so I couldn't improve as much as I had hoped.”
He ultimately finished 14th (13th following Ai Ogura's disqualification). A disappointing result that doesn't dampen his optimism. The first races of the season remain learning opportunities for the Pramac riders, as well as for the team, while they still knew nothing about the Yamaha just over a month ago.
"It was a valuable learning weekend for us. Of course, we want to be closer to the top, but I'm confident we'll come back stronger in Texas in two weeks," concluded Jack Miller, already looking ahead to the Grand Prix of the Americas, which will take place on the weekend of March 28-30.
