Due to the strong gusts of wind forecast for tomorrow, all the schedules for the Australian GP have been changed, in MotoGP but also in Moto2 and Moto3.
Since the beginning of the weekend, Sunday has been under scrutiny due to the weather forecast, which predicts wind gusts of over 70 km/h. While moving the Grand Prix to today, Saturday, was at the heart of discussions at the Safety Commission with the drivers, it was ultimately decided to shift all times by one hour.
The MotoGP warm-up will therefore take place from 1:40 to 1:50 a.m. French time, while the Australian Grand Prix will take place at 6 a.m., like today's sprint race, and no longer at 5 a.m. The Moto3 race will take place at 3 a.m. and the Moto2 race at 4:15 a.m. This is an hour of sleep gained for the Europeans, but above all, greater safety for the riders.
"Due to the weather forecast at Phillip Island, the time of Sunday's 2025 Liqui Moly Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix has been delayed by one hour. This proactive change is intended to ensure the best possible conditions for the track and the spectators," said the promoter of MotoGP in an official press release.

This isn't the first time the Australian Grand Prix has been disrupted by weather. In 2023, Sunday's long race was moved to Saturday, while the sprint race, initially postponed to Sunday, was ultimately canceled due to unsafe conditions. It was on this Saturday that Johann Zarco claimed his first-ever premier-class victory.
Several drivers wanted to do the same this weekend, like Francesco Bagnaia, who declared yesterday: "In my opinion, we should race the GP tomorrow, but we'll discuss it with the Safety Commission. Today we found a very bumpy track and the wind gusts were borderline, so racing on Sunday could really become dangerous like two years ago."
Finally, the sprint race took place today, and the Grand Prix will indeed take place tomorrow, provided there are no further changes due to worsening weather.
