Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo) had a disastrous 2025 French Grand Prix at Le Mans, his worst weekend since the 2022 Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi, where he also scored zero points. With a 6th place in qualifying, a crash in the sprint, and a 16th place in the race after a collision, the 2024 runner-up appears to be losing his footing, undermined by a lack of confidence in the Desmosedici GP25 and some risky strategic choices.
Just a year ago, Francesco Pecco Bagnaia was the man to beat, the undisputed master of Ducati, in contention for a world title. But this weekend in Le Mans marked a worrying breaking point. For the first time since Motegi 2022, the Italian champion finishes a MotoGP weekend with zero points, and not just because of bad luck. This 2025 French Grand Prix will remain as one of his worst memories in red.
It all started with a missed qualification, with only sixth place on the grid, a significant gap in a field where Marc Marquez and his brother Alex dominate the scene. Friday, bagnaia already admitted that he could no longer pilot the GP25 like previous versions, speaking of a " missing feeling » when entering a bend, his specialty.
Then came the Sprint, and the fall. Again. A loss of the front without explanation, despite an identical trajectory to the previous laps, which left bagnaia totally perplexed: " I didn't change anything, and I fell »
Pecco Bagnaia had not experienced such a Bérézina since 2022
Finally, on Sunday, the debacle. Choosing rain tires on a drying track, misreading the weather, and a collision at Turn 3 with Enea Bastianini, which knocked him to the mat. Admittedly, the mistake was not entirely his, but bagnaia never seemed in the game, not even before this crash.
The observation is brutal: bagnaia is today the fourth Ducati rider in shape, behind Marc Marquez, Alex Marquez and even the rookie Fermin Aldeguer, now mounted on the podium. And meanwhile, le championnat escapes, led by a #93 in full renaissance.
Can he turn things around? Nothing is less certain. GP25 doesn't talk to him anymore, and trust crumbles with every fall.
