Slowly but surely, Raul Fernandez is making his mark in the MotoGP top 10. He has been a regular at the forefront for several Grands Prix, but has struggled to get into Q2 and has seen his races affected by his poor grid positions. Last weekend in Japan, he managed to automatically qualify for Q2 on Friday, and thus managed to finish both races in the top eight.

“This race weekend is going to be a bit difficult because we have a lot of tyres available for the front and we had to try everything to understand the way forward. We more or less understood today the direction to take for the sprint race and the race. We worked a lot on race pace, with the medium and the soft. The team gave me many opportunities to understand the tyres, which is very important on this circuit. Overall, I think our work today was positive and I'm satisfied: we achieved our goal.
