Marc Marquez had a horrific Indonesian Grand Prix. He wasn't exactly competitive until the start of the race, but he still thought he could secure seventh place. In the end, the worst-case scenario unfolded. Clipped on the first lap by Marco Bezzecchi, the 2025 world champion crashed heavily, even getting his foot hit by the Italian's Aprilia RS-GP. Although the diagnosis is not yet definitive, the medical profession suspects a shoulder fracture and an injury to the clavicle ligaments.
Indonesia is haunting Marc Marquez. After suffering a terrible crash here in 2022, his weekend started in the worst possible way, including two more mistakes on Friday. Sunday, an even sadder fate awaited him. « The problem must first be resolved in Madrid, but it appears that the ligament is torn or the collarbone dislocated.. It's not the next best thing to the title, but that's how it is in this sport." he confided to the microphones of Sky Sports at the exit of the infirmary.

The first X-rays did indeed show a fracture, but Dr. Charte suggested it might be a confusion related to previous injuries to his shoulder. In any case, he's already headed to Madrid for a CT scan, where the verdict will be reliable. « On one hand I'm sad, on the other I'm happy, because it's happening to my right arm.. It seems that the collarbone will not pose any problems for the rest. he added.

Marc Marquez doesn't hold it against Marco Bezzecchi, who knocked him down, and who apologized immediately afterward. « Marco Bezzecchi came straight away to ask me for forgiveness; it happens to me sometimes, it happens to everyone.I'm leaving for Madrid tonight, I'll try to get back on track as soon as possible, but I'll listen to the doctor's advice." he concluded, which means that he will certainly not rush his return to the highest level, as he unfortunately did in 2020.
