• The 9th round of the FIM World Championship MotoGP ™ takes place this weekend on the impressive Mugello circuit.
• Fast, demanding and highly technical, this historic track is one of the most exciting events of the season.
• Based on data from the previous edition, Michelin Motorsport engineers have slightly updated the tire range that will be made available to the French manufacturer's partners.

The Mugello circuit has become an iconic and essential venue for the FIM MotoGP World Championship, which it has hosted since 1976. Its layout, unchanged since its inception, is perfectly mastered by the riders. Everyone also appreciates the peaceful charm of this remote but captivating region of Tuscany. Located near Florence, the circuit stretches over 5,245 km and features a technical series of nine right-hand turns and six left-hand turns. It is also renowned for being home to the longest straight in the championship (1,141 km), which represents a true arena for pure speed.

"Mugello is undoubtedly the most technical circuit on the calendar, and the one where the highest speeds are reached," Explain Piero Taramassomanager of Michelin Motorsport's two-wheel competition. "That's why we pay close attention to the evolution of the racing bikes and have scanned our tire supply to assess the possibility of providing a perfect package. Our analyses led us to validate the continuity of the Soft and Medium compounds for the front, but we have made modifications to the Hard tire. Its tread is of the same composition as the Medium, but we have modified the internal structure of the tire to provide more stability in the most critical phases of riding, such as the heavy braking at very high speed at the end of the long straight. Furthermore, the technical configuration of the circuit makes it one of the most delicate in the championship. The Mugello layout combines fast uphill and downhill corners, which generates significant and very variable loads on the tires. We have therefore selected tires capable of preserving the balance of the machines, especially since the level of grip is relatively modest due to aging asphalt. Finally, as the circuit is located in a wooded area, far from any built-up area, temperatures can be cool in the morning. The ability of our rubbers to quickly reach their optimum operating temperature will be also an asset for this high-speed racing weekend."

To meet all the challenges of the Brembo Grand Prix of Italy, Michelin will provide its partners with three rubber choices (Soft, Medium, Hard) for the front wheel, and two compounds (Soft and Medium) for the rear wheel. Given the higher number of right-hand turns, the rear tires will be asymmetrical and reinforced at the right shoulder.

In the event of rain, Michelin will supply its MICHELIN Power Rain range with Soft and Medium rubbers for the front and rear, using the same profile as the MICHELIN Power Slick range.

Records dating back to 2024

The lap record belongs to Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) who set a time of 1'44.504.

The race lap record (1'45.770) is to be credited to Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team).

Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP) set a new lap time benchmark in Sprint races last year: 1'45.198 compared to 1'46.187 in 2023.

The reference durations of the Tissot Sprint and the Grand Prix, which had increased considerably in 2024 compared to 2023, are respectively 19'30.251 and 40'51.385.

Finally, the pure speed record is currently held by Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) and Pol Espargaro (KTM) who both reached a speed of 366,1 km/h.
