The Japanese weekend left its mark on Marco Bezzecchi. On Saturday, during the Motegi sprint race, the Italian was caught in a spectacular collision with his teammate Jorge Martin, who made a mistake that led to their joint crash. On Sunday, the Aprilia rider spoke out to reflect on the incident, clarify his relationship with his teammate, and describe a less than enviable physical state.
Bezzecchi says he initially thought it was a serious injury:
« I immediately went to see how he was doing after the accident, because I felt some pain but I quickly realized that I had nothing broken. I saw Jorge keep his hand on his shoulder, so I went to check, and he was in a lot of pain. I didn't want to disturb him »
The transalpine pilot specifies that he has never had any conflict with Martin despite the mistake that triggered their downfall.
"I never had a problem with Jorge. Of course, as I told him, the mistake was a bit too serious for me, given his starting level compared to me. I'm sure he realized it immediately. But we never had a problem. When he came back after the medical examinations, it was very pleasant to chat with him a little. He apologized, and to be honest, everything was fine between us.. »

Marco Bezzecchi: “ I have no problem with Jorge Martin, everything is fine between us »
The Italian insists on the absence of tension within the team Aprilia, despite the importance of the stakes and the violence of the crash:
« I have no problem with Jorge. He exaggerated, but we talked about it after the accident and everything is fine.He understood the situation immediately, everything is fine between us »
An important clarification as some observers feared a rift between the two men, especially after a black Saturday for the team.
If peace has returned to the box, the body of Bezzecchi, he takes the blow. The pilot details multiple pains:
« The hardest part was the leg. The thigh muscle was completely bloodied. And the knee too; bending the leg was very difficultI'm pretty hurt because I took a bad hit on Saturday. My right leg is a mess between the knees, thigh and everything, but also my back, neck and hands…I don't even understand how I managed to land like that, on my back, doing a half backflip »
Despite the pain and the incident, Bezzecchi was keen to protect the internal dynamics ofAprilia, already under tension in a season MotoGP complicated. His measured reaction contrasts with the media dramas that this kind of crash between teammates can cause. The Italian will, however, have to recover physically before the next round, while his teammate Martin went under the knife this Tuesday for a much more severe fracture of the collarbone.
