Marco Bezzecchi continues to nibble away at Francesco Pecco Bagnaia in the championship, and tensions are mounting at Ducati. The Aprilia rider, who has been imperial since Silverstone, claimed a fifth consecutive podium in Hungary and reduced the gap to his long-time friend to just 31 points.
Author of a great start, Bezzecchi led the first ten laps of the Hungarian Grand Prix before giving in to the untouchable duo Marc Marquez - Peter Acosta. The third step of the podium is enough for him to make an excellent operation: bagnaia, only ninth, is still losing ground.
Over the last three races MotoGP, Bezzecchi took 36 points from his compatriot. The gap is now lower than the 37 points that a single weekend can earn. bagnaia is therefore officially within firing range.
Asked after his performance, the pilot Aprilia played the calm card: " After every race weekend, we go home and observe the situation. But for now, it's not my main goal »
Marco Bezzecchi's plan: think 2026, not third place
While he admits that a final top 3 would be a nice bonus, Bezzecchi insists on what really matters to him:
« Of course, if I can reach third place, it will definitely be better. But what I'm focusing on is continue on this path, to try to improve the bike and build a solid foundation for next seasonThese are my main targets. »
Peter Acosta, second in Hungary, climbs back to fourth place in the championship. But despite his brilliance, he only regains one point Bezzecchi and still remains 33 lengths behind the RS-GP driver.
bagnaia, he sees the gap widening: he is now at 52 points from Alex Marquez, solid dolphin, and far from Marc Marquez, which continues to hover over the season with 175 points ahead.
It looks like Bezzecchi found a new implicit objective: to beat bagnaia, his buddy and ex-reference, to establish himself as the real third man of the championnat behind the brothers Marquez.
