This year, in particular, the Toprak Razgatlioglu rumor is still going strong, and this time, it's Yamaha that's putting a coin in the machine. We know that for a long time, the two entities have been circling each other: Toprak was World Superbike champion for the tuning fork company, and he even had the opportunity to conduct a test at Jerez with the YZR-M1. It didn't turn out to be very conclusive in terms of lap times, but Toprak has had time to mature since then, notably with a second WSBK world title acquired for BMW.
Massimo Meregalli, Yamaha's sporting director, elaborated on the subject for MotorsportThe Italian is full of praise for the former Yam' driver, which is in line with the Iwata company's communication policy. But Paolo Pavesio and Meregalli do not take a clear position: "He is capable of doing incredible things." the latter affirmed.
🤣 @SMRWorldSBK's mechanic has understood that you have to protect yourself for everything 🤣
Especially in case you get hit by @toprak_tr54 as happened yesterday 👊#CzechWorldSBK 🇨🇿 pic.twitter.com/kp5xwZ2295

However, Massimo Meregalli has said more and it looks more like an open door than a closed one. “Yes, indeed, we already have two drivers for the factory team. But we know him well, he has already done tests with us, which had to be cut short because of the rain. He behaved well even though he only did a few laps." he added.
Then he dropped an explicit sentence, qwhich responds to the criticism of observers, stating that the level of the Superbike field does not allow comparison with the heroes of MotoGP "Toprak Razgatlioglu has the qualities to ride a MotoGP race. But for me, it's still too early to make a decision on the subject," he concluded. It's difficult to see clearly, especially as the media pressure from his agent, Kenan Sofuoglu, continues.
