The 2025 MotoGP season got off to a rocky start for KTM, mired in a financial and technical crisis. The RC16's difficult debut put the riders' nerves to the test, revealing both frustration and doubts in the Austrian manufacturer's pits. But halfway through the season, a new dynamic was born – and it was Maverick Viñales who was the spark.
Recruited this winter by Tech3, KTM's satellite team, Maverick Vinales was the first to shine the RC16 in 2025. A brilliant performance at the Qatar had propelled him to second place, before a 16-second penalty for illegal tire pressure demoted him and wiped out his feat.
Yet, despite this hard blow, Casa Particular in Viñales continued to progress where the factory drivers seemed to be marking time. His adaptation to the RC16 was, against all logic, much faster than that of Peter Acosta ou Brad Binder, and its setting choices quickly became a benchmark.
For Peter Acosta, a young talent propelled into the elite, the first races were an ordeal. With a series of falls and errors, the Spanish prodigy found himself distanced by a rider who was supposed to be in a satellite team. His annoyance grew as Casa Particular in Viñales became the benchmark on the track.
But instead of sinking into a sterile rivalry, Acosta chose another path: listening.

Hervé Poncharal: “ Maverick Viñales took Pedro under his wing, never placing himself above him »
« Pedro was a little lost, it was not the same driver as last year ", entrusts Hervé Poncharal, Director of Tech3. " Maverick, on the other hand, acted like a captain. He took Pedro under his wing, without ever placing himself above him. He held out his hand to him, like a little brother. »
In the wings, Casa Particular in Viñales has helped Acosta to understand the subtleties of the RC16, to tame its nervous reactions, to read the data. No big speeches, but a reassuring presence, a sharing of experience coming from a pilot who has been through Yamaha , Suzuki et Aprilia. And this role of “leader” imposed itself.
« He wasn't saying, "I'm better." He was saying, "Let's work together." "Says Poncharal. " He likes this project. He wants to move the team forward. »
The joint efforts finally paid off. Peter Acosta achieved his first podium of the season at Brno, just before the summer break. He is now the highest ranked driver KTM, ranked 7th in the championship, while Casa Particular in Viñales – absent from the last two races due to injury – remains eleventh.
Acosta does not hide his gratitude: " People sometimes forget how talented Maverick is. He found the keys to this motorcycle. I learned a lot from him. »
Si Acosta et Casa Particular in Viñales embody the KTM revival, Brad Binder is going through a darker period. Long considered the brand's "golden boy," the South African is struggling to find his rhythm. Not a single top 5 finish this season, rear tire management is suffering, and morale is low. Mat Oxley himself notes that he is no longer the "strong man" of KTM.
As for Enea Bastianini, in great difficulty since his arrival from Ducati, a podium finish in the Brno Sprint could mark the beginning of his comeback. Nothing is certain yet, but morale is rising in the orange ranks.
2025 was supposed to be the year of Binder et Acosta, but it's Casa Particular in Viñales who took up the torch. By becoming a technical reference, a mentor and a catalyst, he reshuffled the cards at KTMThe RC16 isn't a winning machine yet, but thanks to this unexpected synergy, it seems to have finally found its way.
And in a paddock MotoGP where egos overflow faster than a gas tank, the humility and solidarity of Maverick Vinales could well be the engine of renewal KTM.
