The news came out recently: Joan Mir, Honda rider and yet directly qualified for Q2 yesterday at Misano, crashed heavily during practice and will miss today's action. He will therefore not participate in qualifying or the Sprint race, which does not help his rather worrying statistical record this year. Mir, although declared "fit" by the MotoGP doctors, preferred to throw in the towel and save himself for Sunday, the more important day for championship points.
This morning, the HRC team issued a press release regarding the 2020 MotoGP World Champion. After his fall yesterday during practice, he felt severe pain in his neck, which prevented him from moving freely on the bike. The decision was taken by mutual agreement with Honda, which therefore prefers to keep its official rider.
After his fall yesterday, @JoanMirOfficial continued to experience significant discomfort and limited mobility in his neck.
Mir has been declared fit. He and Honda HRC have elected to miss today's running to focus on Sunday.

Joan Mir, currently 18th in the championship MotoGP, is in serious trouble. He already has nine Sunday retirements this season, and a very high number of falls. Fortunately, so far, he has not been injured, and this neck pain seems temporary. We wish him a speedy recovery, and hope to see him at the start of the Grand Prix tomorrow.
