Marco Bezzecchi Misano

Marco Bezzecchi finished the Misano test in the top three and said he was "open" to new things, even if it means taking risks.

After having had a dream weekend at home, Marco Bezzecchi returned to the track this Monday for the official MotoGP test at Misano. His victory in the sprint race et his incredible duel with Marc Márquez on Sunday left him on cloud nine from which he had to come down in order to fully concentrate on the evolution of the Aprilia.

The Italian manufacturer did not bring any major new features, but the day was still fundamental, as the Italian explained: "We tried again a frame that we had already tried some time ago and it's going well, as we had already seen. There are positive aspects and others that need work. We try a lot of things, some of which are visible on the bike, others not. This was the last opportunity we had to try it again so we did it. Now we have a good base and we have to be sure that it's an improvement if we want to use it in races."

Given the current performance of the Aprilia and the rise in power of Bezzecchi, it may seem difficult to want to make changes to a foundation that works extremely well. But in the eyes of issue #72, it's a risk worth taking.

"I'm open. It's certain that changes, even if they allow for progress, are still changes. It takes time to get used to them and understand how to use them best. So you have to be sure of what you want to try and, at the same time, you can't stay put for too long without improving anything. You have to try, both to give a chance to what seems good and to definitively discard what didn't work.", he continued.

"The test is never easy on Monday, it can give false impressions because the track is impressive, with incredible grip. So you have to be very precise when trying to understand what brings a real improvement or not."

Although the field ran slower than during qualifying, the pace was still fast, and the driver finished the day in third position. "We also worked on the areas where we need to improve, such as the end of the race. We've made good progress throughout the season, but we still need to improve our performance in the final laps, when the tire is more worn.", he explained.

A test that reflects its current dynamic and seems to bode well for the end of the season. As a reminder, Marco Bezzecchi is now only eight points behind third place in the championship.
