George Martin

The news broke during FP1: Jorge Martin, the reigning MotoGP world champion, will have to miss the Malaysian Grand Prix to focus on his recovery. Between multiple serious injuries and a contractual dispute, the "Martinator" has had one of the most difficult seasons for a reigning champion. And, the worst part is that it's not over yet; we'll have to wait and see if he's fit to ride before the end of the season.

The sprint race in Japan ended after just a few meters for Aprilia rider Jorge Martin. Immediately after the start, he braked too late before the first corner, losing control of his RS-GP and taking his teammate Marco Bezzecchi with him.Martin suffered an open fracture of his right clavicle in the self-inflicted accident; the bone broke in two places. The fracture was fixed with screws and a buttress plate to prevent displacement.

In addition to Sunday's race in Japan, Martin also missed the Indonesian Grand Prix. It has now been confirmed that the Spaniard will also miss the Malaysian Grand Prix, which takes place next week – Aprilia Racing confirmed this on October 17. Jorge Martin will therefore not be able to ride his Aprilia RS-GP again until Portimão at the earliest. If his return to Portugal goes well, he could still contest the last two race weekends of the season. Martin not spared by the MotoGP gods

It remains to be seen whether he wants to return to Portugal. We can imagine he must have bitterly regretted returning to the Qatar Grand Prix earlier in the season, when he still couldn't pull on his gloves on his own. A hasty comeback could very well be detrimental to him, as Marc Marquez had suggested. He might as well take his time and devote himself fully to the 2026 season, which will be decisive for his career.
