• The MotoGP ™ returns to the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve from November 7 to 9, for the 21st round of the 2025 World Championship, and despite its placement in November this year, Michelin anticipates weather conditions similar to those observed in previous editions.
• Michelin confirms for Portimão the same tire allocation as in 2024, guaranteeing performance and consistency on this demanding and hilly track.
• The 2025 FIM MotoE™ World Championship season will conclude in Portugal with the awarding of the world titles. Saturday's two races will definitively conclude this series for 100% electric motorcycles. Michelin will continue its journey of sustainable innovation in other sporting disciplines.

After its long journey through Asia and Oceania, the FIM MotoGP World Championship heads to its penultimate round of the season at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve. Now positioned towards the end of the calendar, this Portuguese round precedes the grand finale in Valencia by a week. Portimão holds a unique place in the season's calendar: the circuit is highly technical, undulating, naturally spectacular, and puts tires to the test in every aspect of riding.

The 2024 edition confirmed the relevance of the tire allocation proposed by Michelin on this demanding track. The data collected then, combined with feedback from the teams and drivers, convinced Michelin Motorsport to maintain the same allocation for 2025. A logical choice, motivated by the balance found last year between performance and consistency on a surface whose behavior has remained consistent since its resurfacing in 2020, despite grip levels sometimes influenced by coastal humidity.

The Portimão circuit presents a full range of challenges: braking while cornering down the first turn, long periods at full throttle while leaned over, successive compressions and crests, and crucial traction on off-camber corner exits. The chosen tire allocation—three symmetrical front tires (Soft, Medium, Hard) and two rear tires, including an asymmetrical Soft with a reinforced right shoulder—precisely meets these requirements.

In 2024, the preferred strategy for most drivers was a Hard front tire paired with a Soft rear for the Tissot Sprint, then a Hard front and Medium rear for the long race. This setup, particularly appreciated for its consistency and the confidence it inspires in the most demanding conditions, remains a benchmark for 2025.

Despite its November timing this year, Michelin anticipates weather conditions similar to those of previous years: sometimes cool mornings and milder afternoons, with the possibility of humidity brought by Atlantic winds. The MICHELIN Power Rain range will, of course, be available should the weather change.

Piero Taramasso, Manager of Michelin Motorsport Two-Wheeled Competition

« We're approaching Portimão with great confidence and extra motivation. It's the penultimate round of the season, just before the Valencia finale, and even though the 2025 titles have already been decided, we're maintaining our full focus. Portimão is a spectacular, demanding circuit, much loved by the riders, but it presents a real technical challenge for the tires. It has everything: heavy braking downhill, fast corners, blind acceleration, and areas where traction is crucial. You need a tire capable of doing it all, and doing it for a long time, without compromise.

Last year, the tire allocation we offered performed perfectly, both in the Tissot Sprint and the feature race. The drivers were impressed by the confidence it provided during critical phases and by the consistent tire performance from the first to the last lap. Therefore, we have chosen to use the exact same tire combination for 2025. Even though the race takes place in the autumn this year, our analysis indicates that conditions should remain very similar to those observed in the spring.

The MotoE final will also offer us another opportunity to demonstrate that, thanks to Michelin technology, performance and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand. We will continue our sustainable innovation strategy after the end of this championship in other sporting disciplines. »

FIM MotoE World Championship: an electrifying final under the banner of sustainable innovation

The Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Portugal will also host the final two races of the FIM MotoE season, which will decide the world titles. The all-electric Ducati motorcycles will once again be equipped with specific MICHELIN Power tires, which in 2025 will take another step forward with the integration of 56% renewable and recycled materials at the front and 58% at the rear.

On the sporting front, the suspense remains high before this final outcome: Zaccone enters the race at the top of the standings, but Casadei and Ferrari can still claim the world crown.

Two races, seven laps each, will provide an intense finale to a season marked by constant technical progress and very high-level sporting battles.

MotoGP program

The weekend will begin for the premier category on Friday morning, with the first Free Practice session scheduled from 10:45 to 11:30. The teams will then return to the track in the late afternoon, from 15:00 to 16:00, for the Practice session, which is essential as it determines direct access to Q2.

Saturday will begin at 10:10 AM with thirty minutes of Free Practice to finalize any last-minute technical adjustments before Qualifying. Q1 will take place from 10:50 AM to 11:05 AM, allowing the two fastest drivers to join the top ten from Practice in Q2, scheduled from 11:15 AM to 11:30 AM. The afternoon will be dedicated to the Tissot Sprint, starting at 15:00 PM and run over twelve laps.

On Sunday, a short ten-minute warm-up session will take place at 9:40 AM to prepare for the Grand Prix. The main race will start at 13:00 PM and will consist of twenty-five laps.

MotoE Program

MotoE will open the track on Friday morning with the first Free Practice session from 8:30 to 8:45. The riders will return to the track for the Practice session at 12:35, until 12:50.
