Enea Bastianini approaches the 2025 British Grand Prix at Silverstone with a mixture of hope and challenge. In 2024, as a factory Ducati rider, he scored a memorable double (Sprint and Grand Prix), becoming the only rider to win back-to-back races in the circuit's recent history, despite ten different riders having won the last ten MotoGP Grands Prix. With nine Sunday podiums and a victory at Misano in 2024, he came close to third place in the world, ceding it to Marc Marquez. Now with Tech3 KTM, Bastianini is struggling to regain that level, with a 3th place at COTA as his best result in 7. A long lap penalty, inherited from a collision with Francesco Bagnaia at Le Mans, will complicate his weekend.
A year after shining brightly at Silverstone with a Sprint + Grand Prix double on the handlebars of the Ducati official, Enea Bastianini returns to his land of glory… with a taste of unfinished business and many doubts. Reconverted to Tech3 KTM in 2025, “La Bestia” struggles to regain its elite level and approaches the British Grand Prix with the hope of finally triggering something on this RC16 that he still hasn't mastered.
Last season, bastianini signed two resounding victories at Silverstone and Misano, finishing fourth in the championship behind Marc Marquez…for nothing. But the passage of Ducati à KTM is nothing like a fairy tale: a best place of 7th this season in Austin, a laborious adaptation to the Austrian bike, and a series of surreal penalties at Le Mans which sums up his start to the year well.
« Le Mans was crazy, that's for sure. " he says. " Despite all the penalties, we showed good pace in the race. I was close to Marc and Fermin's times.. » After putting bagnaia on the floor in the French chaos, bastianini was awarded a long lap penalty for Silverstone, in addition to the three he has already served at Le Mans. A heavy past that will force him to make a strong start and adopt a perfect strategy to aim for the top 10.
« Silverstone could be the race where Enea Bastianini finally clicks with the KTM »
More Nicolas Goyon, team manager of Tech3, remains optimistic: " Silverstone could be the race where Enea finally clicks with the motorcycleHe loves this circuit. This penalty could even be an additional motivation »
While Casa Particular in Viñales, his teammate, establishes himself as the pilot KTM the most consistent for four races (three top 5), bastianini seems to be swimming against the tide, still using the old configuration with the large aerodynamic backrest – nicknamed “salad box” – while the others (Binder and Acosta included) have switched to the more agile and neutral “Viñales” configuration.
« It's not ideal, but we'll focus on doing a good job from Friday to get a better place on the grid »Says bastianiniThe plan is clear: gain confidence quickly, shine in qualifying, and limit the damage in the race despite the penalty. Because the real turning point of the season could come here, on a track he loves.
Enea Bastianini no longer has the right to make mistakes MotoGP. Silverstone, the scene of his latest triumph, could also be the turning point of his year at KTMBetween recalcitrant adjustments, penalties, and increasing pressure, the challenge is immense. But if "La Bestia" is to roar again in 2025... it's now or never.
