• After the MICHELIN® Grand Prix de France, the FIM World Championship riders MotoGP ™ meet this weekend at the Silverstone circuit in the United Kingdom.
• The British track is the longest and flattest in the championship, and the weather could be among the coolest, with the Grand Prix having been brought forward from August in 2024 to the end of May this season.
• Confident in their choices, the Michelin Motorsport teams have planned a tire package identical to that of last year.

In 2024, the British round of the FIM MotoGP World Championship was the 10thth meeting of the season. This time the event is in 7th position, between the MICHELIN Grand Prix de France and the GoPro Grand Prix of Aragon (Spain), scheduled for June 6-8. After a colorful 2024 season, the first part of the 2025 championship also lives up to its promise. Homeric battles took place at each Grand Prix, and new records were broken, with the help of Michelin's MotoGP tire ranges.

Following the record attendance at the Le Mans circuit (France), the stands at Silverstone (with a capacity of 160 people) will probably also be well filled to admire the MotoGP virtuosos, with several tens of thousands of seats already reserved.

A former Royal Air Force base, Silverstone Circuit is easily accessible to most. It is located just an hour from central Birmingham to the north and 1 hours from London to the south. It was founded in 30 by a group of friends with a passion for racing and hosted its first motorcycle Grand Prix in 1947. Measuring 1977 km in length, it features eight left-hand turns and ten right-hand turns, plus a 5,9 m straight.

« This track is very special, it is the longest of the season and the average speed is very high. ", noted Piero Taramasso, manager of the Michelin two-wheel competition. “ There are long straights, where the bikes reach speeds of almost 340 km/h, and a series of very high-speed bends, which put a lot of stress on the rear tire. The level of The grip is average, the asphalt (resurfaced in 2019) is not very abrasive and the wear phenomenon is easy to control, even if braking is very violent for the tires. The unknown is the amount of sunshine, the temperatures and any precipitation we might experience. Last year, the mercury rose to 43°C on the ground at the beginning of August, and there is little chance of that happening again at the end of May. However, this does not worry us because our tires are very versatile and the data collected here over the last few years has led us to define this package ready for all conditions with regard to this circuit but also the season."

For the Tissot Grand Prix of the United Kingdom, Michelin will provide its partners with three symmetrical rubber compounds (Soft, Medium, Hard) for the front wheel, and Soft and Medium compound tires for the rear. Given the increased number of right-hand turns, the rear tires will benefit from a reinforced compound on the right side.

In the event of rain, Michelin will offer its MICHELIN Power Rain range in Soft and Medium rubbers for the front and rear, with the same profile as the MICHELIN Power Slick range.

In 2024, the Sprint race was won by Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team) ahead of Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) and Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing).

On Sunday, the Grand Prix saw Enea Bastianini win again ahead of Jorge Martin, with the third step of the podium being occupied by Francesco Bagnaia, on the other Ducati Lenovo Team.

For 2025, the Tissot Grand Prix of the United Kingdom will take shape from Friday, May 23, with a practice session in the morning, followed by a second session in the afternoon that will allow the 10 fastest drivers to directly access the second phase of qualifying (Q2). After the free practice session on Saturday morning, Q1 will allow two additional drivers to be selected to determine, after Q2, the starting grid for the weekend. The Sprint race (10 laps) will take place on Saturday at 16:00 p.m. (17:00 p.m. in France), and the Grand Prix (20 laps) is scheduled for 13:00 p.m. London time.
