Álex Márquez cannot explain his poor performance at the Valencia GP, but prefers to focus on the positives of this season.
After his decisive victory in yesterday's sprint race, Alex Marquez He was logically announced as the favorite for today's Grand Prix, alongside Marco Bezzecchi and Pedro Acosta. Although he didn't manage to take the lead at the start, he nevertheless remained in second position and close to the Italian during the first few laps.
Then, suddenly, from the fifth lap onwards, his Ducati wasn't performing as well. At first, the Gresini rider simply watched Bezzecchi pull away, but then he had to contend with his rivals closing in. From the 11th lap, he found himself struggling and unable to do anything to stop them. Overtaken in turn by Raúl Fernández, Pedro Acosta, and Fabio Di Giannantonio, and then by his teammate Fermín Aldeguer on the final lap, he finished in a strange sixth place, far from his potential this weekend.
A poor performance he couldn't explain during his debriefing. However, he preferred to put things in perspective since the season is over and this race didn't change his title of Vice World Champion.

"We are still analyzing the situation, and I don't want to look for someone to blame.", did he declare. “The first person to blame when something goes wrong is the driver. But it’s true that around the fifth or seventh lap, we noticed a significant drop in performance. We’re trying to analyze precisely what happened because it’s not normal to lose so much performance after only five to seven races. But it’s better that it happened when everything was already decided. It’s also excellent learning for the future. We’re focusing on the positives and we’re even more motivated for the test, hoping to solve this problem.”
“There are many factors that can come into play, I'm not ruling anything out. I felt very good from the start. I was very comfortable behind Bezzecchi. When you see a rider who can negotiate the lines better, it means he has that little something extra, but I was relaxed. Then suddenly my lap times started to drop considerably; I had vibrations in the rear. That was the main problem in finishing the race, but the important thing was to finish and have more information for Tuesday.”
