2024 MotoGP world champion Jorge Martin could well make his grand return in Valencia this weekend, for the final round of the 2025 season. But nothing is certain yet: the Aprilia rider will have to get the MotoGP medical green light before putting on his racing suit.
After a nightmarish year marked by four major injuries, George Martin is preparing to face the ultimate challenge: trying to get back on track at home, on the Ricardo Tormo circuit.
The Spanish rider underwent a medical examination in Spain on Monday to assess the healing of his displaced fracture of his right clavicle, a consequence of his violent crash in Japan during the Motegi sprint — a collision with his teammate Marco Bezzecchi.
In a terse statement, aprilia-racing confirmed his presence on the circuit:
« Jorge Martin will travel to Valencia for the Valencian Community Grand Prix. The Spanish driver, absent since the Japanese Grand Prix, will still need to be examined by the FIM World Championship medical team in order to obtain clearance to race »
In other words, the final decision will rest with the MotoGP doctors.
A disastrous season for the 2024 champion
This return to Valencia would have a very special flavor for Martin, but it is part of a catastrophic 2025 season, where bad luck has relentlessly pursued him.
Apart from six Grand Prix contested, his best result remains a fourth place in the Hungarian Grand Prix.
The toll is heavy:
Two injuries in preseasonwhich prevented him from taking part in the first three rounds of the year.
A serious accident at Qatar Grand Prix, keeping him away until Brno.
And finally, the broken clavicle Motegi, which occurred during a brutal contact with Bezzecchi.

If the doctors give the all-clear, the first thing Jorge Martin will have to do in the race will be to serve a penalty
During his long weeks of absence, Martin made headlines for another reason: he allegedly tried to activate a contract termination clause with Apriliadissatisfied with the handling of his case and the performance of the RS-GP25.
But after mediation led by DornaThe Madrid native has confirmed his commitment for 2026, ready to defend a second season in the colors of Noale.
The situation remains tense, however: if he is declared fit to run, Martin will also have to serve a penalty for his collision with Motegi.
The FIM commissioners had suspended their decision due to his injury, but the sanction will be applied as soon as he returns — or postponed to 2026 if he withdraws from Valencia.
During his absence, Lorenzo Savadori served as interim head at Apriliawithout managing to shine (best result: 18th in Portugal).
But in Valencia, the team could finally field its starting pairing. Martin-Bezzecchi for the first time since September.
For MartinValencia will not be just a race — it's a matter of pride. He wants to finish the season on the bike, in front of his home crowd, and put a forgettable year behind him.
But beyond the symbolism, Aprilia The stakes are high: this comeback will determine the preparation for 2026 and the champion's confidence. MotoGP 2024 in a project he almost left.
If he gets the green light, George Martin could well sign the first act of his revenge in Valencia.
