The Aprilia Racing team manager has confirmed that Jorge Martín will not be able to ride at the Australian GP in 15 days.

The season of Jorge Martín is turning into a nightmare. Absent from ten Grands Prix at the start of the season, he is now out of action for several more race weekends. The Spanish driver is not racing this weekend in Indonesia and we have just learned that he will also not be in Australia in two weeks.

A real blow for the reigning World Champion, who was just getting to grips with the Aprilia and had managed to secure several top 10 finishes, including a very solid fourth place in Hungary. But last weekend, he made a mistake in the first corner of the first lap of the sprint race and fell heavily on the shoulder, as well as ending up right in the middle of the track.

What could have been dramatic, however, gave way to concern, as he was holding his arm as he got up. The diagnosis was quickly made, and Martín was forced to return to Spain in order to have clavicle surgery early this weekLogically out this weekend, the length of his recovery is currently uncertain. But Paolo Bonora, the team manager of the Aprilia Racing team, confirmed that the Spaniard would be absent for at least one more Grand Prix.

“It’s a big injury, that’s for sure. The surgery went very well. We’re currently working on the recovery plan with the doctor to see when he’ll be back on track. I can confirm that he won’t be joining us at Phillip Island, unfortunately. But we don’t know how things will play out in the near future. So we have to wait for the medical tests to assess his condition day by day. As it was a big injury, not just a broken collarbone, there were two injuries. So we have to be patient. I want to give Jorge a hug and tell him that the whole team is supporting him.”, he declared on the microphone of MotoGP.com.
