Renowned engineer Ramon Forcada was a guest on the new Duralavita show, where he delivered his unfiltered analysis of the 2025 MotoGP Australian Grand Prix. The highlight of the weekend was Raul Fernandez's first premier-class victory—a triumph he said symbolizes Aprilia's rise to power against a struggling Ducati.
Forked was initially full of praise for the Spanish driver's performance:
« In truth, Raul had already found his rhythm. Not in the long race, but he was doing very good races. They changed the settings, and it seems he liked it, and it went very well. »
He recalls that Fernandez had already shown its teeth in Indonesia:
« He had a very good race in Indonesia. Remember, there were only two Aprilias, with no substitutes, and in the sprint, they both got on the podium, which is very good. »
But for Forked, the Phillip Island victory revealed a new maturity:
« Raul has speed, he had already proven it. The problem was confidence, a little rhythmWhat he did was extremely difficult, because it's one thing to be there, in the sprint, but another to take the lead alone, widening the gap without a single mistake. He did it perfectly. »
The Spanish technician also highlighted the drop in performance of Ducati, unable to place Pecco Bagnaia in points in Australia:
« Ducati, obviously, did its job, but she no longer has the concessionsShe went from being six bikes ahead in some races, with the first six on the front row, to struggling. Why? Because others have progressed »
Ramon Forcada: “ The Valencia trials are very important »
According to him, the concession system has perfectly fulfilled its role: it has rebalanced the field and relaunched the competition.
Forked, a loyal observer of MotoGP for decades, sees a historic turning point looming:
« We thought that after Marc's title, the situation would be boring. All that remained was to see who would finish second, but we were wrong. »
And to add: " I think the World Championship can be divided into three parts: the Ducati era, where all the Ducatis were fine, then the Marc era, with his series of victories, while the others suffered. And now, let's see if after Marc's accident, will come the Aprilia era or the post-Mark era. We will see who takes the reins »
Forked highlighted the crucial importance of the Valencia tests, which will determine the technical balances of 2026:
« The Valencia tests are very important. The engine will be frozen, but Ducati is already working on the entire bike. We'll see what they come up with, the lap times, and how everything goes.. »
Special feature this year: no major driver movement, but a lot of technical work:
« Normally, in Valencia, there is always a rider in black, this one goes with Ducati, that one with Honda... But this year, it will be the first time without a change. However, There will be some very interesting things on the technical side for all brands »
Between the rebirth ofAprilia, the fall of Ducati and a championship more open than ever, Ramon Forked announce a MotoGP in full transformation. He anticipates that the post-Marquez period will see Aprilia try to take the reins. If Aprilia becomes the new technical reference, the development of the GP26 will be the biggest challenge for Ducati.
