Absent from the previous test in Jerez due to injury, Franco Morbidelli was able to take part in his first official test of the season in Aragon.
Franco Morbidelli had a solid Grand Prix in Aragon finishing fourth in the sprint race and fifth in the main raceThe Italian driver consolidated his fourth place in the championship, gaining ground on Fabio Di Giannantonio and Johann Zarco, and now has a 16-point lead over his teammate.
He was also eagerly awaiting the official test the following day so that he could complete the tests he had been unable to complete at the previous test, which took place in Jerez just after the Grand Prix on April 28. He had been injured the day before, falling during the main race and suffered a neck injury. Although he recovered without incident, the VR46 team felt it was best for him not to return to the track.
Monday was therefore important for Morbidelli, who tested everything he wanted and finished sixth on the day. The second objective was obviously to best prepare for the Italian Grand Prix, which will take place at Mugello from June 20 to 22.
“It was an intense and efficient day. We tried many solutions that we didn't have the chance to test after the Jerez Grand Prix because I was injured. We worked on improving the feeling of both parts of the bike, front and rear, especially the rear. I think we've improved, but we need to reconfirm in more normal track conditions. We did the test in preparation for Mugello and I think we'll arrive ready for the Italian GP. We're looking forward to it.”, said number #21.
