Valentino Rossi, nine-time Grand Prix world champion, has been involved in motorsport for some time now. After rallying, he tried endurance racing a few years ago, which he thoroughly enjoyed. However, after two full years with one of the world's best teams, he is not continuing and will not be competing in the 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The news broke recently: Valentino Rossi, BMW Team WRT endurance rider, has relinquished his seat within the team competing in the World Endurance Championship. FIA WEC – which includes the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Rossi had a contract with BMW, not with the WRT team, which was due to end this year.

His commitment to BMW was total: in addition to expressing his desire to move up to the top category (Hypercar), Rossi raced for the Bavarian automaker in major global GT3 competitions, such as the Intercontinental GT Challenge and the GT World Challenge Europe. This allowed him to experience not only the FIA WEC circuits, but also the Bathurst 12 Hours, THE 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps and many other top-level events.
Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned. Admittedly, the car bearing the number 46 was quite fast, even in the FIA WEC, But two consecutive retirements at the 24 Hours of Le Mans did not help the results. At present, Valentino Rossi's future in motorsport remains uncertain, although it would make sense for him to return to a top team in the GT World Challenge Europe, a series in which he has performed quite well in the past, particularly in Sprint events. So there is little chance that you will see "The Doctor" at the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans next year, he who had become a major star of the world endurance championship.
