After a first test at the end of October on the Jerez de la Frontera circuit, the participants in the World Championship World SBK Superbike returns there tomorrow for the first real showdown of the 2026 season.

A "real showdown" because at the first meeting, everything was still very/too fresh regarding the numerous changes that had occurred during the off-season, as seen with the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team and Honda HRC, which didn't have their 2026 riders present, as they were committed to MotoGP races, or, in the case of Danilo Petrucci (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team), still recovering from his wrist injury sustained at the end of the season. The Panigale bikes of the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team then had the upper hand. Nicholas Bulega recording a time of 1'37.587 ahead of his new teammate, Iker Lecuona.

Another test took place at the end of November., then dominated by alex lowes in 1'37.825 on his Bimota, but this time in the absence of the official Ducati team.

This time, all the riders in the premier class of production motorcycles are expected to be there in good shape, with new parts to try and ready to battle before heading to Portugal (January 28–29) and then Australia (February 16 and 17) to conclude these official tests preceding the 12 rounds of the season.

Likealex lowesEveryone seems as hot as coals, even though an unexpected guest, the rain, seems likely to cool everyone's enthusiasm tomorrow…

alex lowes : “I’m really looking forward to getting back on the KB998 Rimini. The weather can always play a role in these first January tests. The forecast isn’t great, but whatever the weather we have on track, our primary goal is to confirm some things we tried during the November tests. We have a few new ideas, particularly regarding the bike’s setup. My crew chief, Pere, has been analyzing all the 2025 data to see if we can extract a bit more of the bike’s acceleration. We have some new parts to try from Showa, as well as new electronic components, which are constantly evolving. The first thing to do is a shakedown after the winter break to get back into the swing of things. I can’t wait to get back with the guys and start our 2026 season.”
