After several months of suspense and fruitless negotiations, Dominique “Domi” Aegerter has finally found his new challenge: the two-time Supersport World Champion (2021 and 2022) will ride for Kawasaki in the 2026 Supersport World Championship.
A strategic shift for the Swiss pilot 35 years old, who returns to where it all began and where he shone like rarely a driver has done in the intermediate category.
The TV series agitated began at the end of July, when Yamaha announced to him that she was withdrawing him from her Superbike World Championship project at the end of the 2025 season. A shock for Domi, who saw a project built over two years with the GRT team collapse.
The Swiss quickly explored all available options: advanced discussions with Ducati Go Eleven, ultimately aborted when Lorenzo Baldassarri was preferred. Then a proposal from Yamaha to compete in the World ChampionshipEndurance (EWC), coupled with a role as a test and reserve rider in WSBK.
