Dominique Aegerter

After several months of suspense and fruitless negotiations, Dominique “Domi” Aegerter has finally found his new challenge: the two-time Supersport World Champion (2021 and 2022) will ride for Kawasaki in the 2026 Supersport World Championship.

A strategic shift for the Swiss pilot 35 years old, who returns to where it all began and where he shone like rarely a driver has done in the intermediate category.

The TV series agitated began at the end of July, when Yamaha announced to him that she was withdrawing him from her Superbike World Championship project at the end of the 2025 season. A shock for Domi, who saw a project built over two years with the GRT team collapse.

The Swiss quickly explored all available options: advanced discussions with Ducati Go Eleven, ultimately aborted when Lorenzo Baldassarri was preferred. Then a proposal from Yamaha to compete in the World ChampionshipEndurance (EWC), coupled with a role as a test and reserve rider in WSBK.

But this option, limited to four races per year, lacked flavor for a competitor like him: " I need to run, not wait for someone else to get hurt " he reportedly confided to relatives.

For Domi Aegerter, the Superbike theme is over

Back to basics for Dominique Aegerter: Kawasaki bets on Swiss talent

Kawasaki, for its part, was looking for a charismatic and experienced rider to relaunch its Supersport program around the recently introduced ZX-6R 636.

With the rise of Jeremy Alcove (3rd in Estoril) and the marketing ambitions of the “Greens”, the return ofagitated came at just the right time. The Japanese manufacturer will increase its official driver roster from one to two in 2026, and wants to focus on a name that can embody the brand's rebirth.

And who better than a double champion to take on the challenge? Dominique is a complete pilot: fast, smart and consistent. It perfectly embodies the Kawasaki spirit. " said a member of the technical management.

The list of winnersagitated en Supersport remains impressive: 44 races contested, 27 victories, 35 podiums, 11 poles and 20 fastest laps. Statistics of pure domination, reminiscent of the greatest years of the category.

Kawasaki hopes to regain, thanks to him, the grandeur of the era Kenan Sofuoglu, triple Supersport world champion between 2012 and 2016, a true legend of the ZX-6R.

For agitated, this return to Supersport is not a step backward, but an ambitious revival: “ I want to win again, and help Kawasaki become a reference again »

The "Greens" see this as a double opportunity: to return to the sporting summit and to strengthen their communication around the 636, the spearhead of their sports range.

The 2026 Supersport promises to be explosive: between the return ofagitated, the rise ofBedroom and the resurgent rivalry between constructors, the battle promises to recall the great years of the championship.
