With Pirelli SCX tires combined with SC1 and SC2, the Turkish BMW driver Toprak Razgatlioğlu swept the tests WorldSBK Superbike Saturday in Misano.

Toprak Razgatlioğlu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) shone on Saturday during the Pirelli Emilia-Romagna round. The Turkish BMW driver chose the SC1 front and SCX rear combination, both in standard specification, for Superpole, where he took pole position with a time that also set the new record for all the time on the circuit. For Race 1, Razgatlioğlu confirmed his choice for the rear, but opted for the SC2 at the front. The strategy was different for Nicolò Bulega and Álvaro Bautista ( Racing – Ducati), who finished second and third respectively using the standard SC1 front and SCX rear combination, both in qualifying and in race.

“We have brought several development solutions to Misano with the aim of collecting information that will be useful in determining the path forward. Teams and drivers provided positive feedback and encouraging things emerged from each. In WorldSBK, the riders implemented a fairly conservative strategy in terms of race choices, but without ruling out that we could see different options from tomorrow's Superpole Race. Razgatlioğlu was the star of Saturday in part thanks to his choices. He opted for the SC1 for the Superpole, taking first place and setting the new track record, but he later switched to the SC2 for the race, considering it better suited his style over the long distance, and the victory proved him right. »

– Pole sitter Toprak Razgatlioğlu (BMW), with the SC1 combination at the front and SCQ at the rear, took first place on the grid with a time of 1'32.320, a new track record for the category which breaks the precedent set by Álvaro Bautista in 2023 by almost 7 tenths of a second.

– In WorldSBK Race 1, almost all riders chose the standard SCX for the rear, with Rinaldi (Ducati), Mackenzie (Honda) and Norrodin (Honda) on the development SCX-A tire in the D0339 specification. At the front, the choice was almost unanimous for the standard SC1, with the exception of the BMW drivers (Razgatlioğlu, Gerloff, van der Mark, and Redding) with the SC2.

Sunday's Pirelli Emilia-Romagna round, the fourth of the FIM Superbike World Championship, was dominated by Toprak Razgatlioğlu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) who, choosing the higher grip of the standard SC1 front for the Superpole race and the greater support of the SC2 front for race 2, achieved two further victories, thus achieving his first hat-trick on the helm of the BMW. The choices were different for the other two riders on the podium, teammates Nicolò Bulega and Álvaro Bautista ( Racing – Ducati), who used the SC1 front in both races on Sunday.

“The WorldSBK SC1 and SC2 front tires were valid options for today's races. The BMW Motorrad riders' decision to alternate between short and long races was based primarily on motorcycle characteristics and personal riding styles, and Razgatlioğlu's victories confirm the validity of these choices. In WorldSSP, the choice between standard SC1 and development SC1 has once again split the grid more or less in two. This means that the D0279 is already popular with many riders and we are well on our way to improving this tire category for the class. We also received important confirmations regarding the rear tires.

We saw that the standard SCX performed well with asphalt temperatures above 50°C, although it requires intelligent management in the final laps, which is an exceptional result for this round, but we will continue development on the basis of different circuits and conditions.Development solutions always go through a phase of first contact, rearrangement and integration, which occurs with more knowledge and refinements that are carried out, both by the teams and on our side . The equipment we brought to Misano was completely new. The drivers got a taste of it during the first sessions and we are not surprised that the choices for the race were conservative in favor of standard solutions. We will bring the innovations to the next tests and to other circuits with comparable conditions and characteristics in order to have more references. »

– The choices were almost unanimous among the drivers for the Superpole Race, where the SC1 front and SCQ rear combination was used the most. Only Michele Pirro ( Racing – Ducati) stood out by opting for the SCX at the rear. The race was also faster than last year, with an average improvement per lap of 0,605 seconds. The race's fastest lap record was also broken. Razgatlioğlu improved the 2023 time, also his own, by almost half a second.

Superbike Misano Pirelli

– The scenario was similar in WorldSBK Race 2, where almost all riders opted for the standard SCX at the rear and the standard SC1 at the front. Iannone (Ducati) and Norrodin (Honda) preferred the SCX-A development tire in D0339 specification at the rear, while BMW riders Razgatlioğlu, van der Mark and Gerloff opted for the SC2 at the front.
