Since the 2003 French Grand Prix contested in 125 on a Honda from the French Espoir Team supported by the FFM, Alexis has participated in 166 GPs – 95 in 125 and 71 in Moto3 – with two victories in Brno in 2014 and in Doha in 2015. Then he separated from the German team for which he rode at the German Grand Prix last July, when this team changed owners, while he had the opportunity to defend the French colors of Peugeot, even if this manufacturer was bought by Mahindra.

New opportunities in GP Moto3 were not numerous for the Albigensian born on June 2, 1987, despite his speed still intact as proven by his pole position at the Qatar last year. Some perhaps had a briefcase fuller than his to find a ride.

But Alexis still has an itchy right wrist, and he's going to spend hours riding on the Circuit Paul Ricard on the occasion of the Bol d'Or, with private testing starting this Tuesday and official qualifying on Thursday from 14:40 p.m. to 16:30 p.m., then Friday from 9:40 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The departure of 80e Bowl d’Or will take place Saturday at 15 p.m.. Masbou will be a driver for the Moto Ain team aboard a Yamaha R1.

Alexis explains why he will be at the start of the Bol: “ It was Pierre Chapuis, director of the Moto Ain dealership that I know very well, who suggested that I participate with his team in the Bol. I was immediately excited by the idea of riding a 1000 and we therefore participated on August 30 and 31 in the pre-Bol tests where I was able to discover the Yamaha R1. As the progression and good feelings were there during these days, we decided to participate together in the Bol d'Or. This opportunity is a great opportunity for me to change scenery and realize my dream of driving on the Paul Ricard circuit.”

Alexis Masbou will therefore find at Castellet another driver coming from the Grands Prix, in the person of Randy de Puniet.
